Guitar playing.
    #3021499 -

My room mate is heavy into guitar, and so I've started playing around with them.. I've gotten to where it doesn't feel unnatural to use one, but I can't play songs from tabs.. =\ it just feels wrong and unnatural. Is there some trick or tip to it? I always just end up fucking the tab up and going off on some random thing.

Also, how do you usually connect the guitar to the computer? I'm using the mic in right now, i couldn't get a signal off the line-in.. is there something you have to do to use it? Does it give better signal if you can get it working?

to red tabs, you just gotta look at it right

e|----<Skinny String
b|----
G|----
D|----
A|----
E|----<Thick string

you look at it as if the guitar was on your lap and youre seening it from an top-view.

then, the numbers corruspond to what number fret it it

this is an open string
e|--0---

this is the first fret
e|--1---

this is the third fret (the first inlayed dot)
e|--3---

the seventh fret (the thrid inlayed dot)
e|--7---

this is the 12th fret (the one with two dots)(the same note as the open  string)
e|--12---

so you just read them in the order that the notes are played in the song

like this major scale
e|----------------------------4-5-4------------------------------
b|-----------------------5-7--------7-5--------------------------
G|-----------------4-6-7----------------7-6-4--------------------
D|-----------4-6-7----------------------------7-6-4--------------
A|-----4-5-7----------------------------------------7-5-7--------
E|-5-7----------------------------------------------------7-5----

and chords are the numbers on the fret written in a straight line
like these chords
......Emaj...Am....Gmaj...Amaj...Cmaj...
e|----0-----0-----3-----0-----0----
b|----0-----1-----0-----2-----1----
G|----1-----2-----0-----2-----0----
D|----2-----2-----0-----2-----2----
A|----2-----0-----2-----0-----3----
E|----0-----0-----3-----0-----0----

and you can easily  hook your guitar up to the computer if you just have a pedal or something. something with an output. then you can get a regular guitar chord and stick it in the output, then get a 1/4inch to 1/8inch jack adapter and stick that on there and put it into the line in on your soundcard. then just go to the soundcard settings and go to the settings and turn the line-in jack up. and it should work. good luck.
