building comp for sick cousin - tecra laptop

folks,

my cousin is sick with aplasty anemia.

it's a pretty rare disease, though beatable.

I dug out an old toshiba tecra from work and some
spare parts and put it together for him, but I'm trying
to find a dongle for the nic card for an ethernet connection
and/or a wireless adapter.

does anyone know any good websites for used hardware?

also, anyone know what kind of games are good for
a 10 year old that can also run on a pretty weaksauce
laptop....

Doom3 is out of the question.

give me full specs on the craptop and ill pull some oldschool games out of my ass for you.

fyi, you can buy a brand NEW NIC for a laptop for like 20 or 30 bucks online. check www.pricewatch.com

they also hae a used section.

I'll also doublecheck with my coworkers who are all hardware whores like me. I just dont collect laptop crap really.

looking for a wireless card that will work with a linksys
home network.

also need the dongle to connect ethernet to the comp.

he's 10 y/o....I was thinking card/puzzle games.

paste me the specs on the laptop. Model numbers are generally useless as they ca be 'confugered' differently at purchase time.

I cant help with the wireless card for sure. I dont use wireless at all at home or otherwise, and none of my friends have spare wireless shit lying around.

What kind of card for the dongle? Your best bet is to buy a 20$ cheapy network PCMCIA card from pricewatch on that case.

But paste me the specs on the laptop.. processor, ram, drive space, video in it.. etc
and ill get some older games for you.

Depends on your definition of weaksauce, but this stuff should run on anything that you haven't jacked from a museum.

That's the sort of puzzle games I remember playing on my old compooters (and still occasionally do on a fricking P4).. look around on Underdogs, there is a lot of good old stuff that, along with the DosBox emu will even fit on a 16 meg flash card. :laugh:

Some other pretty obvious additions would be Tetris and all its clones.
