lithium ion laptop battery

ok my fucken laptop wont charge what so ever. the icon doesnt even come up. apparently my battery is fucked. did the comp store lie to me. and heres the question why isnt there a program that doesnt let the battery get over charged by leaving it plugged in?

A rechargable battery has a life pretty much based on the amount of times it's recharged. If you let it almost die completely before you recharge it it will last longer, but this isn't always convenient.

You'll prolly have to get a new battery if it isn't holding a charge. You could try to get it from the manufacturer, if not bring it into a Radio Shack or something and they should be able to cross-reference it and order you a new one.

What type of computer. I see a lot of these on the new apple laptops, and some of their older ones. 90% of the time the battery is shot. The other 10% is split between logic board or charge board/sound board. (The sound board on an older iBook is where both sound and power come into the machine. The charge board on compaq laptops is usually in the center under the mouse pad between the two bays and has the prongs that the batter actually hooks into on it.)

thanks guys. it is a compaq 700. it wont even show up that its tryign to charge. i never really used it when it wasnt plugged in. maybe a couple times thats it. and when it was charged it woudl show that it wasnt. i dunno im gunna fuck aroudn with teh battery might help haha

alright i fucked around with it. and it works :smile: haha fucken comp store. this just a message to all u tv kickers. it can work for u.any way thanks seuss u inspired me. they took it out at the computer shop too. i dunno go figure.

Bleck... if it is a presario 700, then you got a piece of junk. They have two very common problems... the fan stops working which causes the cpu to overheat and fries the logic board... and the harddrives seem to be weak. I strongly recommend the 3yr option for pars & labor on a 700... The evo line is fine, just the presario one that blows.

If it is a p.700 and starts to lock up after half an hour or so of use, then you probably lost the fan. If it starts to lock up sooner than that, then probably the hard-drive.

Presario 700 is a piece of junk indeed. My battery is not charging any more, and when I leave it to do some CPU intensive work during the night, I'm afraid it's going to explode. Even though I knew I was buying crap, I fell for it cause it was the only laptop with an almost decent configuration that my money could buy. Stay away from this shit (the whole presario series).
