Laptop suggestions

I'm getting a new laptop. My budget is about $1250-$1300. It needs to have decent battery life(2 hours 30 minutes), dedicated graphics(nvidia 7600 and up), 1gb of ram(getting another gb after), and core 2 duo. Any suggestions? I will probably go ASUS but if you know of anything better or cheaper with the same specs please tell me. And screen size is really that important. Anything with a decent resolution is cool.

Well, I'm going to go ahead and get the Dell Inspiron 1520 with a 8600GT, T7300, 2 GB of RAM. One thing, if I wanted to upgrade the RAM myself would that void my warranty?

I'm throughly impressed with Dell. I ordered a completely custom Inspiron 1520 on the 16th of August and it got here today! Their website said it wouldn't be here until September 4 at the earliest but here it is. The trick is to call or use Dell's online chat help and just ask politely if there is anyway that they should get your shipment out as soon as possible for a good reason and they will hook you up. This laptop kicks ass. No complaints. It only cost $1200.00 because I used this $300.00 off coupon that I found on the internet. Here are some pictures if anyone cares.

if anything goes wrong with it, you're fucked

i bought one a few years ago, it had problems out of the box. so they send out some fuckjob to put refurbished parts into a brand new computer. fuckjob doesn't know what he's doing and less stuff works than when he started. fuckjob comes back and destroyed it. fuckjob told me "don't buy a dell"

my ibm has been used everyday for 2+ years, never crashed, never any problems

i work on consumer electronics, dell is the lowest rung on the ladder

Well the consensus is that the Inspiron 1520 this is a very well built model. I also have a two year warranty on it. All the reviews have been very good also. http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3821

basing your purchase on the opinions from a website with Dell advertising all over it??

i now have 2 ibm laptops, never had a problem with either

my work buys dell because they are cheap, shitty and easy to take apart. then they get destroyed, in fact, we destroyed a brand new dell XPS laptop this afternoon

good luck, from a professional perspective, i'd be interested to hear how long it goes before you're on the phone trying to get service

I'll post in here just for you if it breaks. I would agree with you on the fact the Dell does make some low quality products but the higher end stuff seems to perform and operate well enough. If I could build my own laptop I would. For the price Dell offered the best hardware. I based my decision on that and not off of what is said on notebookreviews.com.
