No blueing at all - trust me, I was hoping for it so bad I was almost convincing myself!

I definatley manhandled them enough. Apart from tearing a few stems apart, I also pinched the stems and caps really hard.

It wasn't black spotiness, it was like black soot covering the whole cap (but it could be wiped off, although it was fairly stubborn stain). We didn't pick any of the black-coated ones.

LBM? Nothing little about these suckers... :) Will post photos ASAP just to gauge reaction. Probably take a few days.

yes...just make sure you click on 'mark up in your posts' in the reply screen....it's the hyperlink on the top above your username. Since HTML is disabled, you need to use[] instead of <>.

Well it is possible that you have found some Agaricus mushrooms or maybe some Stropharia.s

Wild Stropharia's do look a lot like psilocybe cubensis and I have posted look-a-like species at various threads in the Spiritplants mushroom hunting forums.

It is really hard to tell a species without actually seeing the mmushroom.
