This is the most interesting thing to happen in a while. Theories?

"Pike, 50, has been sent back to the prison where she has spent the last 30 years and is continuing to receive medical care, according to a statement from her lawyers on Saturday.

She survived two lethal injections of the drug pentobarbital on 30 September, which left her in a critical condition.

Pike regained consciousness earlier this week and began speaking - stunning experts, medical staff and her lawyers.

Her case is now in uncharted territory as she is thought to be the only person to have survived an execution attempt by lethal injection."

Why is lethal infection even a thing when you can just give the person a vial of Nembutal? You never hear about people surviving assisted suicide in the Netherlands or Switzerland.

I'm against execution, but I'd rather have .50 cal remove everything above the lower jar than take my chances with any of the regular execution methods.

Killing people is more or less a solved problem. If an execution is botched with lethal injection, in my mind it was probably done on purpose by whoever planned the execution to try and maximize suffering or something.

I'm not particularly against execution for heinous crimes that were committed beyond all doubt by the person, but botched injection executions where something goes wrong appear a bit too common for it not to be a cruel and unusual type of punishment versus other methods.

You survive execution effectively twice… pretty sure god just pardoned you. I’m in no way a believer in a deliberate god or divine intervention, but sometimes what’s fair is fair. 30 years and 2 attempts at execution, it’s probably time for some sort of release.

If we really wanna talk about this shit did you guys know that there is a recipe that can painlessly kill somebody and no doctor has ever revealed what it is because it's literally against their Hippocratic oath?

All they could say is what the three ingredients are. That's it.

No dosage advice at all but that doesn't stop states from trying to use it and they just formulate their own cocktail and give it a shot.

Honestly death by firing squad is way better than lethalish injection you have no idea what the fuck they're gonna give you. They don't know what the fuck they're gonna give you. It's literally a guessing game.

Drug companies don't want to sell their drugs to governments that use them for execution. It's bad for public image, in a world where investor sentiment means everything. Because of this the US government struggles to acquire the drugs they need for executions, and it comes at great cost.

I read about the case some days ago, and apparently it was flagged even before they attempted it that she had shitty veins and iv injection might not work. They just went ahead and did it anyways, twice.

Fentanyl is pretty cheap and effective at killing people too. Pretty much impossible to fuck up if you were trying to kill someone with it.

I read into this some time ago and there's so many associated laws and statutes and proofs that need to be applied that it's a nightmare to change execution laws or prescribed methods. Pretty much impossible in the current combative political climate.
