Why corporations don't want 15 minute cities
    #29690261 -

Imagine this, the store is a five minute walk from your house, so you go and only buy the loss leader, if you need something else you can come back tomorrow, but maybe you won't need something else, and you just needed to buy the loss leader

Now imagine this, the store is 20 minutes by car, you go for the loss leader, but you don't want to come back soon, so you stock your cart up, and end up spending 150 dollars

For most of the normies out there, an operating system is just a bootloader for Google Chrome.

And I don't know what the mantis is praying for
But he's probably just thanking the Lord
That he don't live in a home
And he don't got a phone
And he don't sit around all angry and bored
(He's just a bug)

No it’s not really geography. Not physical geography anyways. Political and social geography sure, but it wasn’t forced due to physical constraints of the land.

There’s a long history, especially in the US, of corporations busting services like public transit in favor of suburban lifestyles. Largely auto makers. At the start of land planing in the US, which is marked in East Liverpool Ohio, you see a drastic change in urban design. The Northeast had/has far more dense communities as they didn’t see large swaths carved up by pre automobile planners. After the war there was a large push by automobile makers to bust trolly systems and they were very successful.

Having dense urban centers largely breaks down automobile transit makes it impractical. It’s nearly as impractical in suburban environments too, but we subsidize this industry heavy enough that it’s not going away. There’s a reason why new suburban rings are further from city centers and city centers are gentrifying again. There’s also looming debt crisis’ for many suburban tax heavens.

Physical geography has little to do with these choices.

I’m sorry it had to be me.
