Ben’s Rice Failure — I Think I Found the Solution

I wanted to make a post referencing my Ben’s Rice failure because I think I’ve found the solution to the issues I was having.

I used Great Value Walmart packs and made a few changes to my process. I think making sure the micron tape is double-taped perfectly is extremely important—absolutely no slacking on that part. Make sure the tape is completely covering the slit/opening.

I also found that disturbing the bags was a big mistake for me. DO NOT BREAK AND SHAKE — that was one of the biggest issues I had, along with the poor tape job on the two bags that failed.

The other 3 bags haven’t been broken, shaken, or disturbed at all. I’ve simply left them alone and laid them on their backs, and so far they’re doing great.

Out of the five bags I tried, 3/5 worked, so I’m definitely going to keep testing and see if I can repeat the results.

Take my advice with a grain of salt since I’m still learning myself. Try what works for you and come back and comment—I’d genuinely like to hear about everyone else’s experience!

You made a post just yesterday regarding your Ben’s Rice Failure. No need for a double post. But good luck with your grow.


People do have a high failure rate with the "uncle ben's tek". A few years back I made an updated UB tek that eliminates the problems associated with that method. I hope folks find it useful:

Thank you I do admit I did the double post simply upon inspecting the bags up close and comparing them to the other 3 so I just wanted to add my findings I apologize for the “spam style” idk how/if I can edit my original post with my findings
