People on GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic or Mounjaro achieve weightloss but with significant muscle wasting. This drives development of novel drugs to selectively enhance muscle growth. Current targets seem to promise greater positive results than steroids without any of the androgenic side effects ts while at the same time doubling fat lost on GLP-1 drugs.

Trevogrumab is a monoclonal antibody that blocks myostatin (GDF-8), a natural inhibitor of muscle growth, while garetosmab blocks activin A, another signaling molecule involved in limiting muscle growth and promoting fibrosis and inflammation. Both have been investigated as ways to increase or preserve muscle mass, with early studies suggesting that the combination can produce greater increases in muscle volume than trevogrumab alone. More recently, the COURAGE study has investigated trevogrumab and garetosmab alongside semaglutide for obesity, aiming to make weight loss consist predominantly of fat rather than lean mass; interim results have suggested substantially better preservation of lean mass with the combination. Garetosmab was originally developed for fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), where activin A drives abnormal bone formation, and phase 3 results have shown a very large reduction in new heterotopic bone formation, although safety and long-term effects remain important considerations. Neither drug is currently a general-purpose approved muscle-building treatment, and the long-term consequences of sustained myostatin/activin-A inhibition remain incompletely understood.

Garetosmab is out now, but its the secondary one, the primary one, Trevogrumab, is still being developed. It does the heavy lifting, pun intended.

Losing 10kg fat while gaining 5kg muscle is just what the doctor ordered :smile:

Myostatin inhibitors are nothing new, but these are stupid expensive and anyone that actually understands anabolic steroids and their benefits beyond just building muscle and strength will keep using them. They won’t go anywehre

Follastatin has been shown to put on tons of muscle. And get this, it can reverse hairloss. Which got me thinking. If testosterone caused hair loss, how come young men aren't bald? The most testosterone you'll have in your life is when you're younger. If testosterone made you bald, you should be growing hair as you get older, not losing it. However, it has to be something related to testosterone, which is why people get it confused. I think it has to do with myostatin.

DHT levels also decrease by age in men.

Hair loss isn’t just caused by DHT…if you’re genetically prone, it’s going to happen. Test can speed it up, due to the conversion, but DHT derived compounds can make it even worse.

And to add to what AlChemicalResearch said, DHT blood serum levels might decrease, but it’s still being produced and one of the places it’s released is the scalp and the signaling in your follicles might not decrease, so it can still have a negative effect on your hair

The more you workout increase dht which is why we bald as we age. Need to workout to not be sore.

No. Working out causes a temporarily spike in DHT and the spike has nothing to do with going bald.  Consistently elevated levels and higher concentrations in the scalp can lead to hair loss. And DHT isn’t the only reason people go bald. Do a little more research there bud cause you’re talking nonsense

When i stop working so hard my hair grows back and when I start up again I lose my hair.  Genetics sound like the answer except neither side of my family have ever been bald. I'm fine being wrong  to be fair.

So how does Garetosmab decrease hair loss?

It could be a ton of things. Recovery, sleep, nutrition, overloading too often with your workouts and other hormone levels will play a huge part. When I’m in prep, I lose hair even tho my DHT is low, because my cortisol is messed up. This is why blood work is paramount, you don’t truly know what’s going on until you do that

And don’t know much about Garetosmab. I just know these myostatin inhibiting drugs have been around for some time and are stupid expensive
