I think that's up for debate. Billions of comets have hit the earth. Some probably contained gnarly life forms that morphed into everything living.

One place life originated is Earth.

We haven't found any others but if you're looking at it from a probability perspective there are 100-400 billion stars in our very average galaxy alone, the odds not one other hosts a planet with life seem slim, even just among that 100-400 billion figure.

Also, it's kinda funny we have that large of a range for our own galaxy.

Just a big ass guess basically. Meteorologists have a better margin for error.
