Top of jars come out wet everytime. * 1

No matter how much foil or how tightly I pack the foil ontop, my jars always come out wet on top and also wets the micropore tape ontop.

Wondering what im doing wrong here.

Also doesnt make a difference if i let the pressure cooker depressurize overnight or let it all out over 7 - 10 mins. They always end up wet ontop.

Make sure you vent your PC and the water level is not too high.

Is it causing you a problem? If not, don't worry about it.

Some of the liquid evaporates through the filter but it dries off eventually, shouldnt be a problem

The water turned to steam under pressure and heat. The steam turned back to water when the pressure and heat were removed. I always have water on my lids.

Okay, then what's the point of adding foil to the top?
Just limiting what moisture gets in i imagine?

My jars also always go in without any standing water and come out with a small puddle in the bottom.

Have to let it sit for a day or two before noccing up with LC.

Recently came back after growing almost a decade ago so im getting used to new teks and info.

Using a hydrophobic filter like an SFD would probably keep the water out of the jar.

I put my jars straight in without tinfoil and never get water in my jars.

That or just do unmodified lids.

The foil is a barrier keeping contaminants off the lids when the PC is opened. The foil is removed in a SAB or in front of a flow hood.

From what ive seen unmodified lids are just loosened a 1/4th turn right?

Never have I ever pulled my foil off infront of a my hood. Ive always pulled them off as I pull them out of the PC. Shake them up and then go and noc them up infront of my hood (if im doing G2G or agar, otherwise ive never needed a hood or SAB to noc up jars)

Using WBS now, used to use rye berries.

I think im just getting paranoid that im gonna run the PC dry and adding to much water to compensate for my paranoia lol.

1/4 turn off otherwise when the PC and the jars inside are pressurized the PC will vent and the jars won’t be able to.

The foil cap is a touch barrier, it plays no roll in keeping your jar lids dry. Your canner is under pressure and saturated with steam; the steam is meant to come into contact with all surfaces, this is the mechanism for sterilization. The foil cap creates a barrier between your hands and the sterile lids, nothing more.

I fold a small piece of paper towel and put it over the filter then foil it.

Nothing wrong with water on top of the jar lids, I put mine 3 meters away from the A/C unit to dry out the lids and they're dry within the hour. No worries.

You dry your sterile jars with contaminated air flow from the air-conditioner? There are certainly better options, especially when considering that wet lids aren't a problem that requires a solution; the entire jar should be wet, they've been immersed in steam. Wet jars/lids are a non issue.

Drying in front of a ac or dehumidifier seems like a bad idea n huge contam vector for a nonproblem

I took a hiatus from growing, and I'm also making a return. I noticed one or two wet filters this run, but I've never had any issues with it. I would only be worried if the filter stayed wet and slimy.

Thanks yall. Good to know about the foil. Not sure where I got that it was supposed to prevent the lids from getting wet.

I worry about the micropore tape getting wet for sure. I worry it'll change the structure of the paper micropore to where it gets too much GE and/or let's contaminants in or does the opposite and completely seals it cause it turns to mush.

I am most likely overthinking it like most things lol.

The micropore tape will dry to normal once it is left in open air
