Don't use perlite. (Unless beef corrects me lol I think perlite is the wrong material.)

Definitely don’t use perilite lol definitely DO use coir. I punish all my tubs and recast with coir after flushes

You aren't always going to be able to see contamination. The fact that you said there was a good bit of "yellow watery stuff" means it could definitely be battling contamination. That "yellow stuff" is mushroom metabolites AKA mushroom piss. It isn't ALWAYS a bad thing, but a LOT of it is often a sign that it's battling contamination.

There wasn’t what I’d consider a LOT of yellow liquid maybe 3 teaspoons but I’ll keep that in mind. 

Actually I meant vermiculite not perlite cuz that’s what I have. But I’ll have to order some coir then I don’t have any…just ordered a small bag coming now on Sept 3

Also I’m going to eat some of these tomorrow.  What’s a good dose for fresh mushrooms?  I only ever had them dried.

They responded to last nights super heavy misting/soak by almost doubling in size overnight.  A few of them are freaking huge now…. Like almost litteral penis envy…lol.

If I want to take a gram of dried, I'll try 15g fresh being most of mine dry to 7% wet weight but most people say they get 10% wet weight. So if I want 2g dry it's 30g wet. That my base dose. Up to you though and depends on how far you want to travel.

Sounds like 35-45g for me then….this big one is like pinching a piece of wood. I’ma hafta cut it up in slices and swallow them like pills.

Vermiculite, coir, or even jiffy seed starter mix will be a much better casing than perlite. You can always wait to roll if it means picking up a better casing tomorrow:mushroom2:

Perlite will lose its moisture very quickly as a casing

It can be tough to dose wet sometimes. Once I ate about 45 grams wet with a friend and it was unexpectedly the second hardest I ever tripped and the hardest he ever tripped. I saw a grown man get fully tangled up in his own overalls. Thats when I learned they are an advanced pant system

They definitely hit different when they are wet. I believe it's the psilocin that you don't lose by drying them. It's a "special" more "magical" kind of trip to me.

So I picked and processed and tested yesterday.  Picked about 5-6 pretty huge ones and dried in The air fryer on dehydrated for 5 hours till they are snap in half dry.  I took what I thought was going to be a reasonable test dose….about 28 grams of fresh and gave my friend a small 30 gram single mushroom. It turned out to be an absolutely PUNISHING first dose in terms of strength and intensity.  It lasted almost 12 hrs and by hour 6 I couldn’t wait
For it to be over.  I think I’m going to name this batch “mind rape”.  I also took out the cake and blasted it with water in the sink and cleaned out the tub and filled it with water and suspended the cake.  There’s a lot of babies growing on the cake now.  I’m good on tripping for a while….  That was way too much… lol.

What’s the best way to store the dried ones long term?  I have them in a ziplock baggie in a dark drawer…

Best way to store them is really up to what you can do. I stole all of mine in vacuum sealed bags with desiccant packs then put them in glass jars that seal air tight. I store them in a dark location that is temperature and humidity controlled. Excessive but I have 2 year old shrooms that hit like day 1.

There's the frozen tea method, dried extract, capsule, baggie, gummy, freeze dried, and I'm sure I forgot a few.

Harvested early?  How can you tell?  Some of them Were nearly 6” long and 2.75” in diameter.  I figured that was about full grown?  They looked huge to me.  One of them bigger ones is gonna be like 3-4 doses.  I can’t believe how strong these were.  I left the smaller ones on the cake.  Man they were potent.  They get even bigger and stronger?  Jeezus….

I guess I’ll let the next batch go longer.  I got a couple more 5-6 inchers on the cake now that practically spring up over night.

While im feeling pretty proud of myself right now, I’m also still learning guys I appreciate all the good advice.

PE variants are harder to judge but I usually wait for the caps to open a bit, get a bit lighter in colour, bumps may often appear on the stipe under the cap, and they get a bit soft. Squeeze one and if it’s a bit like a marshmallow it’s ready.

Here is an example. See the bumpy stipe and how light the cap colour is. Not shiny, looks a bit dull.




They can definitely get huge as well with good genetics and conditions.
