What is actually in mushroom extract powder?

Does anybody know what “hot water-extracted” actually means?
I understand the fundamental concept, but what are they actually extracting?
Other than “the true full spectrum of beneficial compounds” :rolleyes:

How is that superior to actual dried and ground mushroom capsules?

Hot water extract is just essentially a tea made from many mushrooms and then dried.

Whether it's better or worse depends on what you're trying to get from the mushroom eg is the main constitient you want water-soluble?

And what also matters is the ratio of mushroom to water, how many grams of mushrooms were boiled to make each gram of extract? Some people say stuff like 10x or whatever but it's not strictly regulated.

Interestingly their claim of beta glycan is to boast over 30% beta glycan content. This is not concentrated over the fruiting body, this article claims lions mane fruiting bodies are already 35% beta glycan. It may be a 1 to 1 hot water extract.
