Are there actually open-air psilocybin exchanges in Oakland?

I'm not asking for sourcing or locations, I don't even live there. I'm just wondering if what the media reports is correct.

Is it true as they say that people sell it openly since 'decriminalization'?

And is that due to the cops not caring, or being unable to do anything? Since selling obviously can still be cited even under decrim.

Shrooms seem like a weird thing to sell on the street. Can't imagine there's a high demand for that kind of thing.

Not sure what you mean by "open-air"... but yeah, there are retail outfits selling mushrooms, often under the banner of "church".  Heck, I had my first DMT experience via a vape pen my friend who lives in Danville acquired from an Oakland outfit, highly rated and apparently always consistent.

Even here in Los Angeles, it's not uncommon for a cannabis dispensary, for example, to carry mushroom chocolates on the side.  And it's been that way for years now.

And I'm not necessarily saying any of this is legal, from what I understand, much of it isn't.  However, as someone who was born in 1982, I've witnessed first hand how deteriorated policing has become since my youth.  The policing institutions around LA have been practically begging people to join ranks... not worrying about speeding much on the highway these days, and I suspect the same goes for the folks who are hawkin' technically illicit substances full retail.

I ain't complainin'... :shrug:

The way I heard it described is there are places that are like bazaars or street fairs where people are selling mushrooms of all sorts.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised.  But it wouldn't be like a scheduled "every Friday @ the town center" sort of thing, I suppose.
