I never did try any of the ones that I found,  but a buddy of mine did.


He would laugh his ass off for about an hour and then be totally sober shortly afterwards.

I don't think they are very potent at all.

If I find any this season,  I'll finally give them a go and see for myself  :yesnod:

better late than never.

no habitat shot. sorry :shrug:
growing on a fallen thigh width yellow birch trunk with moss covering every parts where bark was missing.

found three more at the park









i've notice that unlike other pluteus that usually just smell earthy or mushroomy, these have that floral musky stank that some flowers have, like certain narcissus or peony cultivars .
this smell intensifies if you leave them out in the open ( on the table ) for a bit.

after a bit of "research" i believe the odor i am using to ID these before they even bruise is from the chemical Indole.

edit: would be neat if "they smell of Indole" was an identifying trait of a psilocybin mushroom.:cool:
