Best Quality CDR's
    #2960119 - 08/03/04 02:39 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I've been pondering whats the best quality CD-R for Music recording? So far I have only been using Sony 80min, and i'm quite pleased with the quality of sound, but i'm interested in using a better product if available. Please list your CDR of choice and your opinion of its quality so I can make a well determined decision.

Peace & Love :mushroom2:

Sound quality is identical between the cheapest and most expensive CDRs you will find. The only difference is the life of the CD (they deteriorate and fade after a few years- anything between 10-100 years) and the likelyhood that the burn will fail. And the top burn speed.

Just dont use the cdrs that you can see right thru(thin silver tops). They just dont last as long and are easier to damage.

I really like these new Memorex Black cdr's I've been using. They are like a PS2 disc in that they are black on the bottom, just like the name.

Here.

Is that also true for Music Cd's that were bought retail and not burned illegaly? Does that product also deteriorate within the 10-100 year period that you mentioned?

Wow! Been finding those at Big Lots (local discount store) for $4.99 a 10 pack. Bought a few packs a while back.

If you buy bulk you can get a much better deal than $0.50 a piece.

Come to think of it, what isn't better when you buy in bulk?

Early CDs have been seen to decay but I don't know how long this takes. As they used to say- take care of them and they will last a lifetime. Certainly retail CDs should be more resiliant to the effects of time because the 0's and 1's are cut into metal, wheras with CDRs they are burnt into dye.

I hate buying CD's in bulk, I end up with 100 cd's with no cases lying about.

Ya, but my last 100cd spindle lasted me 3+ years =b. 15 at a time is plenty enough. my MP3 player (30gb creative zen xtra) basically made burning CD's pointless.

I have a friend that is a musician, he says Verbatim are best quality for recording music.

Personally I like Sony, I tend to trust anything they make due to the fact I have never been let down by one of their products.
