you didn't trash my thread at all. you bring up some valid viewpoints, but let me ask you, do you think it's up to the world to love you...or for you to love the world????

what do you mean the word love gets thrown around too much? love simply means that you accept the person as they are, for no other reason but because thery are there to share that space with you. it's doesn't matter what they do cause that puts conditions of love. Love is natural, it has a flow. if you don't find love it's because you are rejecting the world, instead of accepting it for what it is.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

I agree that the word Love gets thrown around too much.

Love, in my opinion, is "inclusive resolution of conflict in the process of relieving misery" (whatever that means) And then there is Love as in tennis (ditto) and then there is emotional love, fixations and such

So Love would be inclusive
and Hate exclusive

and how that contributes to the alleviation of misery I don't know

It's up to me to love the world, obviously but it's something I find extremely difficult under the circumstances.

I think a lot of people are far too flippant about love and all too often fling it around to meet their own ends. I don't believe there is one true love out there for anyone (I've said this before) but I think there are a lot of different types of love, depending on the person you get involved with. I like the theory (can't remember who's) that suggests that when a person "falls in love" with someone they are merely projecting an image of themselves onto that person and vice vera. Therefore we effectively fall in love with a reflection of ourselves. That wasn't explained very well but anyway, I think that it's an interesting idea. The Smashing Pumpkins song "Adore" sort of reflects that theory "I'll pull your crooked teeth you'll be perfect just like me" etc. Then there's the scientists who can prove that love is just a chemical.

Oh I don't knowww. Going with the flow is the best thing to do I thinkses! :wink:

not really that bad of an attitude...i guess it just seems that it is a very negative one and that such a wonderful person...that you have such a negative view on love...and this book i read recently as really helped me...it is nowhere near religous...because i'm not...but definitely is an individual thing....

i think you are concentrating on the relationship aspect of love, such as find your significant other.  The reason it gets thrown around so much, and because it seems like the word is used a lot is because we aren't taught or shown how to love unconditionally.  we feel that this person must do this, or do that in order to love them.  the kind of "what have you done for me lately" attitude.  Many times, we hide our true selves from other people until we "really get to know them"  putting up a mask the does nothing but builds seperation.

the love I speak of is one that takes that mask off.  to be yourself around anyone, and to instead, accept people that you run into as they are.  this means, not judging them.  Oftentimes, we take a look at how someone dresses, how someone talks, and how someone looks, before we even decide to accept them and go up and talk to them.

see what I mean about unconditional love??  the only type of love there is??  the only type of love there can be...because if you go into a relationship wanting to change someone, it's normally not going to work out.  :heart:

Yhe 'Love' rating in tennis occurrs when both sides are equal so I guess some early matchmaker got couples together to bat balls back and forth and when they were about equally matched then they were in love.

It looks like tennis may have been what those Mayan ballcourts were about
