Harvesting Albinos

First time growing and first flush. Thank you to everyone who contributes here. It has been the best resource I’ve found by a mile.

I’m looking for help determining when to harvest these beautiful little guys. The strain is AJMF. Some of the veils are starting to break but I’ve seen some posts about albinos not dropping spore so they can/should be left to mature further. I’ve also seen pictures of this strain where the cap is fully inverted and gills are splayed out. I’ve also read that albinos should be harvested when they’re soft to the touch.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

First of all, congratulations on your beautiful first growth :goodwork:

They look lovely.

As for harvesting, Albinos generally release spores too, sometimes even more than the standard varieties. I’m not familiar with your specific strain, so I can’t say much more on the subject. You’ll find out once they open up :sporedrop:

You can harvest them pretty much whenever you want. With mine, I always harvest them once they open, and depending on whether I want to collect spores or not — I harvest them right away, or I wait until the caps flatten out.

As for harvesting when they’re soft, I’ve only read about that with mutants, not with regular looking cubes, and while I can’t confirm what the deal is with harvesting soft mutants, I know you definitely don’t have to wait for the regular ones to soften. You just harvest them when they open up.

those look WONDERFUL, congrats. I wish I had gotten anything close to that for my first flush, good fucking job.
As far as harvesting, yes, you can leave them to mature more since they dont make a huge mess with spores, but theres not much of a reason to except personal preference. If I were you Id go ahead and harvest those puppies, rehydrate and go for that 2nd flush.
Also maybe practice some cloning cuz those are fantastic genetics.
