Help with an ID?
    #2937573 -

I found these mushrooms out in the yard yesterday and I can't seem to find my Field Guide to North American Mushrooms.. I was wondering if someone could help me ID them..

description.. large (~7" diameter) whitish/tan caps getting darker in the middle
gills: a little darker than the caps, attached?
stem is solid (not hollow).. fibrous.. approx. 5" long, semi thick..

here are some pics

since drying they appear to be a little bit darker brown.. the gills have gotten much darker also. Not able to get a spore print

help is much appreciated

The gills in the middle photo are certainly not attached. That one looks like Pluteus to me; don't know which species, they usually grow on wood. I bet If you take a spore print it will turn out pink.

The others are unidentifiable. More info needed. Please give info requestyed here:

Were they growing near trees or just in the middle of the yard?

Try taking a print on dark paper.

I'm thinking Pluteus petasetus. Here they seem to grow mainly from maple, but I wouldn't be surprised to find them on hardwoods in general.

Happy mushrooming!
