With all this rain we've been having, I thought I would check for Liberty Caps, and found loads of brown fresh sticky ones. This is the earlest I have ever found them in 20 years of picking. Here are a couple of photos taken yesterday, 26th July! Happy hunting.

Its great up there, i can usually pick between 3 and 5 thousand on a good day. Those where picked around the roaches, it early days yet, the field is not properly up but i still managed to get about 70. I'll let you know when there in full bloom.

take it from me, the top ones are the finest 100% fresh new Liberty caps. I actually expected to find them this early as i've seen lots of fungi, that I normally see when i'm picking, on lawns in the park etc and that got me thinking, hmm i wonder...

The top ones are definately fresh libs Shirl. They turn cream when they dry out a bit due to sun / wind.

Hey Lou! Where you been hiding??? Good to see you on the board again!
I was out today looking for libs in a nearby field that I had recommended but didn't find anything apart from Calvatia gigantea (giant puffball) and a shit load of blackberries so it looks like I'm making blackberry and apple crumble with custard tonight!
I'll have to check my regular patches in Derbyshire and the Peaks methinks!

Random fungi have started growing in my lawn, so I was thinking that maybe I should go hunting soon... Have you guys seen that website which lists hunting grounds around the UK? I'll try to find the URL if you like... There's a huge golf course a minute's walk from my house, I might have a look tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if it'll be any good though, do they put weedkillers etc on the grass? Well, it's worth a look, being so close.

If your on about http://members.lycos.co.uk/shroommap/ it's a waste of time IMO. I've checked a field mentioned for the past 4 years and haven't found ANY fungi, never mind Psilocybes.
