That sucks big time Carnonos.

I have made outdoor beds today! Been clocking the growth of 'line b'. (I started out with a T1 from my first germ plate and then started selecting from a different germ plate). It grows about four times as fast as the genetic line I started with. Really curious how this translates to fructification.

Tub on day 8.

Here are my current transfers! The one that was pure white over a week ago has now had a blue ring appear around the center with some slight discoloration: must be some more bacteria that showed up. These are really sneaky, they keep riding along with the transfers! But overall, it is looking good. I'll be making a LC once I have a clean T3+ and then grow out another master agar plate and then use the rest of the clean plates to inoc. some grains!

You seem to be cutting through colonies of bacteria when you transfer, or maybe it's just the pics.
My phone's camera has the disadvantage of being operated by the sloppiest photographer on the boards, but you're looking for an edge that's even and uninterrupted, with nothing blobby or drippy or goopy going on.
I'll try to visualize it (this is on really low nute)

If things don't look ok and get overgrown, you've still got the not ok thing on your plate, but it's harder to see it. You don't want that. It'll fuck you up once it's on grain.

No I'm sorry but it isn't imo.

All of them look bacterial and / or otherwise not good enough to keep pursuing.
If those were mine I would waste no more time on them and go right back to spores 2 agar and try again.

Indeed.  Or do a Josex poke into a brf puck with a leading edge from one of those T2s in the top left of that shot (the rest are just fucked).  Looks bacterial.
Notice how you see the same kind of mycelial growth in these T1s,  but without the patchy raised areas everywhere:

These are the first spore prints from outdoor fruits that I had the chance to work with (actually my first ever agar plates as well), and now I see just what that really means: they are really heavily contaminated. But it is good practice because eventually I have to learn how to isolate clean growth from a dirty source!

I can guarantee it is not my sterile technique because all of my other plates are perfect, it is just the IWL.

I'll go back to spores and try different sectors of the print from an even smaller area.
:sporedrop:

I actually have a special Agar mix with Antibiotics, so I will try plates with those since all the contamination seems to come from bacteria and not molds. That should solve it! :strokebeard:

I'll look into that! Will definitely try alongside more S2A attempts! Thank you!

Did I say next week?  I meant the next day, lol

Amazing what you can get done when you don't have plans on Valentine's Day

Just curious, what grain is in the jars? Looks kinda dark.

This is a modified version of one of my experimental "duff" mixes that I've posted previously - It's rye, but it probably soaked up some tannins/color from the composted wood chips that are also in the mix, they started off much lighter before mixing in and pc-ing.

It's also probably a little darker because the moisture content of this mix is slightly higher than what you would see for cubes - the substrate ran a little dry after a week or so when I used standard hydration last time so I corrected for that.  Interestingly, this mix is really close to what my GA caerulescens like to grow in.

I think IWL and ovoids are the sexiest mycelium on agar.
Also I found out the cartwheeling effect drowns out on low nute agar. Now I miss it! I loved those big wheels, but cut them all up.
I'm also curious about the jars, rye with hwfp?
Ah I see that's answered now

Rye, finely shredded straw/grass, hwfp (maple, oak, cherry, hickory blend), and composted mixed conifer/hardwood sifted from a bag of Black Kow composted manure

Still working on procedure/ratios - If I'm successful at fruiting I'll share the deets with the community fo Sho

:begger::begger::begger:

Sorry for spamming, but made several beds today. In the forest, at a friend's place, and this flowerpot. 5 L wood spawn, inoculated with 400 ml grain spawn.

Planted it with some wolf's milk and the caudex of a 1 yr Ipomoea murucoides.

Your friend has some white henbane it seems! In the bottom image's top left pot!
Looks like white henbane, hyosciamus albus! Highly toxic, part of the withches' herbs!

Nah that's just my balcony. It's only witches' plants. Some white henbane is even flowering ATM. My friend's garden now has two subaer beds, two IWL beds, one ovoid, one eryngii and one cyan.

My balcony is similar! I believe I had the most toxic garden in my country at one point.
I had Atropa Belladonna, Atropa Belladonna var. Lutea, Atropa Acuminata, Atropa Baetica, Scopolia, 5 different Datura species, 3 different Henbane (Hyosciamus) species, Poison Hemlock, 5 different Wolfsbane species (Aconitum), 6 different Brugmansia species (Angels' Trumpet), Abrus, Ricinus and a couple lesser known species!

I only have a fraction of them today: I've mastered botany, so its time I master mycology.

Gonna use a lot of my old pots and planters for IWL, Allenii, Azurescens, Cyanescens, Ovoid and Caeruleorhiza alongside blueberries and goji berries! Should be good! Will share pictures when ready in spring!
