I actually feel really bad about this one, but it seems like there are still some pins growing out of that area I might have to clone one of those since they'll have phoenix genetics.

The myc on the right side is also bruised from misting it directly today like a dumby

Ive got a couple of these myself - varieties I had gifted to me with a wedge and I dont have spores for. Been getting my no-no hole violated by what I think is hidden contam, so I'm hoping to just get something to fruit so I can get spores and toss all this shit that has me beating my head into the wall. It's a sound strategy imo and I wouldnt feel guilty if I were you.

Man, I fully understand that. I can do the same with any hobby/pastime/passion pretty quickly. Just go back to those parts of it that make you grin from ear to ear.

For me, now that my fruiting area has some shoeboxes running and fruits growing, I get to have that grin again.  *actual pic of me

I so hear you on this one!

The only thing I've found that works for me is to go small. Trying to get bigger flushes, in bigger tubs with bigger canopies and so on with tougher strains to grow just completely took the fun out of it for me.

I've gotta keep a very close check on my "gotta out perform" tendencies that can turn anything fun into stress and worry.

I've really just gotten into enjoying the cycle of dropping spores, growing whatever happens, taking care of it like I would a pet or favorite plant while it grows, then be thankful for whatever the harvest is, then start the cycle again and appreciate the natural order of things.

There is something so incredibly relaxing and satisfying about having a little jar or two that's happily fruiting, sitting right on my desk that's a very different feeling than a few tubs tucked away somewhere that I've invested a lot of effort into could go ugly any day now.

Same thing with agar and getting a hundred plates going looking for that "perfect clone"... Gets stressful and becomes a job.

It's interesting and kinda fun watching others from a distance take their growing skills to another level and what they achieve from a sheer "WOW" standpoint and I appreciate their talent and dedication, but for me, I like it small and very low contamination risk.

I had so much fun getting my first harvest of my first flush of non actives (blue oysters) this weekend. Nothing to really brag about, but they looked great to me and made a fantastic pasta dish. I'm thinking gourmet mushrooms are, in some ways, even more fun to grow. Unfortunately, my mind is already thinking about going bigger... growing in buckets... etc.  Gotta... Fight... It...
