I can confess to completely unconventional shit I do all the time here ahahahah.

Had an idea this week to do something different. I have taken very clean spore "prints" this way and had pretty much 100% success. I call it my Spore-a-lator. Basically I put 20ml of water in the bottom of this and then PC it for 20 minutes.

The top half (a smaller jar that fits snugly into the bottom one) is where I put the cap because that way the cap never touches the "print water" below as the spores just fall into the sterile water and then I use the SHIP to suck them out and I have a really clean spore syringe that is packed to the gills with spores and ready to use immediately or store for later.

So what I decided to try for the hell of it, is instead of putting water in the bottom I'd usually suck into a sterile syringe, instead I put about a half inch of RGS and then PC'd it to find out if the spore drop was clean enough to colonize and pin for clones in one easy step or would it all contaminate??? Keeping in mind, the cap never physically touches the bottom jar with the RGS. After about 12 hours of spore dropping, I just pull off the top jar that has the cap in it and twist the top of the jar with the RGS down tight and see what happens.

So when I woke up this morning this is what it looks like. I did the spore drop on the 13th so it's been 5 days and the growth is right where the spores dropped. Mycelium, at least today, is beating the contams if there are any in there.

Any bets on whether it contaminates or puts up pins?

I've literally made dozens of spore syringes like this and nearly all of them grew out very clean pucks that were use for G2G transfers to jars that grew out clean enough to fruit really well.

It may work, but the consensus is it's best to let prints dry for a few days, before using. Mainly due to bacteria on the cap.

Also second printings are considerably more clean (more faint as well)

I second the bee hive yearning

my dude, i wouldn't bet against you.  This is fucking brilliant and belongs in its own thread outside of the confession booth. Youre a TC now Lew, curb the shame and be yourself.

For those of you interested in the progress of this spore drop directly to grain (RGS) experiment, this is the start of day 10 after the spore drop and the grain puck is nearly fully colonized. Doesn't appear to be any infection.

FWIW, it has not been shaken or disturbed in any way. The lid has been locked down tight with no FAE whatsoever since the spore drop. I didn't use a SAB, just a clean kitchen counter after I washed my hands and a sterile knife and tweezers to put the cap in the spore-a-lator. Wasn't all that careful just opened the lid of the spore-a-lator, dropped the cap quickly and locked the lid back down. Took about 2 seconds in total.

Can't speak for others, but I have never had any spore to grain inoculation grow this fast. In a couple more days I'll loosen the lid a bit for some FAE and see how long it takes to get some very clean pins I can clone.

My next experiment will be to spore drop directly to a jar with more grain, enough for a full blown flush and then see if it grows out or contaminates. If it works, it seems like this would be one of the easiest ways for noobs to grow as many jars as they want with pretty much any cap off the previous grow in an endless cycle.

This is a jar I started with a spore drop into water I immediately sucked into a syringe and inoculated a jar 3/4 filled with RGS then cased with verm about three weeks later. It will produce 15-20 grams dry if bottom watered when the flush starts growing. This was just a run of the mill multi spore off a cap that came from a vendor syringe of GT. No cloning or anything like that involved.

Hahaha that's epic.

All I can say is that my wife has gotten to the point where she expects there to be mushroom chocolates and cannabis edibles within easy reach in containers on the door of the refrigerator. Frequency of use and reactions may vary, but at the end of the day she's internalized the idea that those things should always be on-hand, like all the other stuff in the door of the refrigerator.

I’ve been using rye for 10 years but thinking about making a switch. Been eyeing the WBS at Walmart. I almost pulled the trigger yesterday but there were 20 different types and I got overwhelmed.

They are very distinguishable.  I have been diagnosed with both and we can tell the difference.  They do interact and if you have restrictive thought type ASD (I do) you cannot stop thinking about the traumatic issues the way a neurotypical person can.  This makes recovery nearly impossible as most methods designed for normal people do not help much.

Operative phrase being “can be”

I was just making a lighthearted “chicken or the egg” joke with the context of overlapping symptoms that present in ASD and CPTSD, and how they are often comorbid

I am far from neurotypical and far from unscathed by the mental gouges of childhood abuse and general trauma, I do understand the struggle ❤️

I only remember the really bad stuff at bed time when I’m trying to sleep. Or at two in the morning when I get up to piss. Then I’m taking Xanax and melatonin just to falll asleep!

Yeah, my brain is a fucking asshole with that "here's your worst memories at the wrongest time!" Which is pretty much any moment that I'm not actively engaged in work or cult or doing music stuff. Sadly, I get much less time for my brain to have something else to do besides torture me with memories I've tried to foget. Those remain. The ones I wanted to remember have always been colateral damage in the great brain wars.

I'm thankful I have 3 particular friends that do remember the wild shit we used to do, and all those times where we all went - "I can't beleive we didn't die!" and "I can't believe we didn't get arrested!"

Strangely enough when I stopped drinking and smoking pot every day all day my sleep improved. Once I’m asleep that is! Now I preemptively take good ol prescription meds and enough melatonin to put a bull down before bed. Not drinking keep me from getting up two or three times a night to piss.

I aim for the WBS with the most millet and Milo(sorghum). Cracked corn bits get sticky. Sunflower is ok, but it floats with the trash I am unable to resist scooping out. 😆 So the birds get the sunflower seeds.

That helps! I had a bag in hand that was mostly millet and Milo but the bigger seeds made me hit the brakes
