I am aware of keyhole surgery, where they make small incisions and use video to co-ordinate what they are doing inside without having to cut them right open. I am no expert but thats as far as i know.

So you are working on new species? That must be fun :grin: I still have a bluing shroom (that looks psilocybian) from here in NZ that has yet to be identified.. well when I hear back from bluemeanie we'll find out whether its a known species or not.

The most prevalent kind is still cutting straight through the sternum where I work. It's slowly but surely being replaced by the thoracotomy style approach with a "the robot." I couldn't find a picture of it but it's quite impressive and has the funkiest hand controls...if I had controls like that in a video game I would never lose.
