Hey people, about to try microdosing for the first time, have a few questions. Wanted to start a new thread but I'm sure there are 100s of threads on noobie micro dosing and I know people around here prefer you don't start a new one and "use the search feature".. Couldn't really find a micro dosing "mega thread" this seems to be the closest to that.

Basically I suffer from bad anxiety and depression. I had been on antidepressant and they actually did help me. But it made it nearly impossible to bust a nut during intercourse as well as worried me about long term effects, being dependant on an inorganic chemical drug for life and just increasing cynicism and distrust for the pharmaceutical industry in general these last few years. I have a decent amount of homegrown mush so figured might as well give this a shot. Did a little research but there is so much varying information it's hard to wade through it all.

Bought some empty pill capsules and filled about 30 with .05 grams of ground to powder PEs.

Just have a few questions before I start.

1.) .05 grams of PE is probably a decent starting point right? I know it seems a little low but I guess that's close to the equivalent of .1 of regular cubes?

2.) How does alcohol consumption interact with microdosing? I am admittedly a bit of an alcoholic but have cut back significantly from where I was a year ago. I still have a drink or two (a beer or glass of wine) daily and occasionally drink that plus a couple shots of hard liquor if I'm feeling really anxious. Will alcohol counteract the microdose?

3.) And what is the general consensus around her for best schedule for dosing? From what I researched elsewhere I got a varying answer from every 3 days, every other day, every day and sometimes saw people saying twice a day.

Thanks.

edit : just saw this thread https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/27805016 which answers questions 1 and 3. But raises another question- WHat is the general consensus around here for which method/schedule for a first timer, Fadiman or Stammets? And if the Stammets method, what if I don't have lions mane or niacin, is still worth following that method without those?

"Leave a bad taste, killin' my high like niacin
Stop kiddin' middlemen need Ritalin
Hit me with the full tin of gin and I'm a kid again
Keep the bong lightin' straight through the song writin'"

Since PE is much stronger than say B+ .05gms would to me be a great place to start

I'm also thinking in the middle of the day would be a great time to microdose but your body and mind will probably let you know

Hello. I'm very new here.  I've been hearing A lot about people micro dosing to replace  the toxic Xanax. Any tips or information I could possibly get to learn a bit.? I'd appreciate all info I can get. Like,,,  do people ever successfully switch from Xanax to micro dosing. And are they balanced and normal feeling, less side effects etc? I have many many questions. Anybody with good positive information is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Im a neuroscience lover, and biology and biotechnology student who truly believes studying these magic mushroom compounds will cure a lot of illness in this world.
For starters, yes, xanax and Ssris work in your serotonin receptors, blocking or unblocking them.
Problem is,they cant really do it that well compared to lsd and other psychedelics, especially baestocyn,an analog of Psilocybin.
I've been researching a lot,and i found an explanations as to why we see mandalas and other patterns when using psychedelics.
As to stop using xanax? Go for it,but dont cut it off immediately, xanax makes your own body fight your own serotonin regulation system, like crying, and feeling emotions altogether.
The pharma industry doesnt really care if you get better or not,or the damages their human made imperfect medicines do to your body.
Im not a conspiracy theory person, but i really believe our medication is killing our brains, but healing our body

I wasn't surprised that there was a forum when I got back, considering how mainstream it's gone over the last decade and considering that two decades ago it was being discussed and done here openly, while critics, people who's post didn't age well and the like claimed they never heard of such a thing, "bogus and witchcraft scam" (Hippie3 on Maria Sabina)

Now there's a whole forum about it and I wasn't surprised, but it was a neat thing to see. Not because it's more "Paul Stamets, MAPS and McKenna" but because it's non-famous household people getting the use of it.

You been around long enough to see most of it too and the movers and shakers that had/have shroomery id's.

There are risks of cardiac fibrosis and valvulopathy associated with microdosing daily.  Four on and three off is likely safer.  But if you're taking another medication that targets this receptor, or have a heart condition already, the risks would be higher.

And LSD, with its longer half-life and greater binding efficacy, would pose an even larger risk than psilocybin/psilocin.

Quote:
Sustained overstimulation of 5-HT2BR can cause cardiac fibroblasts to proliferate and become deposited in abnormal quantities, causing cardiac valves to thicken and function abnormally, which can ultimately manifest as valve fibrosis and VHD...

...  Thus, it appears that a microdose of LSD may indeed be large enough to raise the risk of VHD. Similarly, a small dose of 3 mg psilocybin raises plasma concentrations of psilocin to 2.3 ng/mL, comparable to the levels seen after the pro-fibrotic drug pergolide, which has a somewhat weaker affinity (Table 1). This suggests that the typical doses used in microdosing could potentially be enough to trigger fibrosis or VHD in a similar manner to other drugs.

Hello,

Fellow veteran here. Same boat as you with the back issues and PTSD and all that. I'll share 3 things with you that have been very helpful for me. 2 websites and 1 video.
The first is myyco.com. whether you're just interested in mycolology, want to grow some good gourmet mushrooms or medicinal ones, they got you.
The 2nd is magicbag.co. I've tried other bags and this one seems to work the best.
And last is just a video I found on YouTube. This is if you want to do it all on your own.

There's tons of different ways to do this and probably way easier ways. I'm still VERY new at all of this so take anything I say with a healthy grain of salt. Hope some of this helps.

esketamine (Spravato) [Re: geokills]
    #29104142 -

I found the Spravato (esketamine) treatment to be effective for treatment resistant depression.  I was required to be on a standard antidepressant before getting the Spravato treatments.

Although the reasoning was that Spravato worked much quicker giving the antidepressant time to start working, I personally find when taking antidepressants and using a micro or macro dose of psilocybin mushrooms, the results are better than without the SSRI, or SNRI in this case.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar?

this is being explored in clinical trials for obvious reasons. jury's still out on it.

So pleased to see this new forum. I have no disrespect for my friends who enjoy psychedelics recreationally. I have done so many, many times and sometimes still do. But in the past several years I have become far more interested in the medicinal and potential psychological benefits.

I look forward to watching this forum and the entire field of research grow.

I have been using psychedelics heavy for over a year now, I have tripped many countless times with friends back in high-school.  I'm much older and finally ran into a decent connection to plenty of LSD, mushrooms, pure mdma and should be able to obtain mescaline , 2C-B and DMT vape down the road.

The reason I think I went almost 10-15 years because of my 20sum year addiction.  So once I got to subs they wrecked my teeth(tripping during this time made me realize this just needs to STOP).
Instead of my 4mg sublingual Bupe daily, I started a taper and eventually went back to just snorting 1mg(to me good for taper because im losing 50% bio instead of gaining 90% and now down to .5 so less is obviously the goal.

The thing is, psychedelics started out by opening me up to be honest to my wife. She just went through a lot as she is bi-polar, very irritable unhappy...mdma changed this in a blink of an eye.  I was able to speak on my addiction and my plan with diving deep with psychedelics...she had never tripped or rolled took me years to coax her into hitting a joint..just shows how powerful planting that seed of hallucinogens, and then guided her accordingly.

We love tripping together but the real work happens when I trip solo, usually at night for CEV and hope for entity contact on shrooms again(giant mushroom looking thing turned out to also be some gray entity wearing a "cap".  The most latest was meeting the praying mantis on LSD and ohvman how special an experience this tends to bring!

All in all I have been successful with recognizing daily habits, triggers, waiting out cravings and doing great with the taper, might actually be free, as I have not had sub .5 intranasal in 4 or 5 days.

I do not wake up depressed every day now either, and reward system seems rewired for saving my tolerance for a roll, flip, or trip to look forward to, and more Marijuana.

Thank you mdma, mushrooms, and lsd..

Oh someone else that listens to spirits!

Mine are snakes and butterflies.  And obviously the frog plays a role (my heart center, where I like to rest).  I don't get them so much on LSD though.

Started with snakes and Ayahuasca.  Then snakes and cubes.  Snakes and tamp stones (not so much the fruits).  Occasionally with pan cyans. Usually feminine and multicolored.  Coming up from the root.  Maybe Kundalini.  Maybe Kali.  Maybe my Scottish and Irish ancestors.  Sometimes appearing as a red haired woman.

Butterfly started showing up with pan bisporus.  Pan bisporus shows up too.  Trip sitting.  Excellent teacher.  I wouldn't be surprised if they have a history working with people.  Or maybe they just appreciate my vibe.  But a compassionate spirit either way.  Door way to Kwan Yin, bodhisattva of compassion.

Anyway, I don't hold any of that too tightly.  Spirits are mercurial, and they slip through my fingers when I try to pin them down with concepts.

I hope you and mantis have many wonderful encounters!  Our brothers and sisters are wonderful guides in my experience.

If I could give one thing some love in the Shroomery community perception it's that Less is More.

So many people insist on doses for newbies that would blow my socks square off and i'm over 300 lbs with 33 years of psychedelics experience.

Aha! you say, But you are 4x as sensitive to psychedelics as the average person! Give you half a blotter and the Ankh symbols rotate across your field of vision, you lose your ability to understand words spoken to you, you end up on the kitchen floor for a while incapacitated, have fullblown Ego Death experiences.

You don't know whether that n00b is like that too

Less is more. An ounce of prevention beats a pound of cure.

Take half of the shrooms you intend, wait 1:30 and decide whether you want the other half to go higher, or wait 3 hours instead and add the other half to extend.

Microdoses. Mini trips. Try it.

If you trip too hard, too often, trips lose their Magic or you yourself end up beside the point.

Less. Is. More.

This forum, dealing with microdoses and mini trips, is very important, even though many won't even go here.

If you are sensitive, a veteran, therapeutically, meditatively, spiritually or brainhacking oriented, this forum and it's low dose high utility focus is crucial.

Low doses can't replace high doses - but high doses can't replace low doses, also!

Sometimes the real breakthrough isnt a flood dose, but taking too little to fulfill and fill the rest in with what you do with the trip.

This paper is a hypothesis-generating review, not a clinical study, and it provides no direct evidence that microdosing psychedelics causes cardiac valvulopathy in humans. Its central argument rests on the observation that LSD and psilocybin share 5-HT2BR agonist activity with drugs like pergolide and fenfluramine that are known to cause valvular heart disease. But 5-HT2BR agonism is not itself a sufficient cause of VHD, and the paper's own data demonstrates this: ropinirole and lorcaserin are both 5-HT2BR agonists with no VHD association whatsoever. The authors' attempt to rescue the hypothesis by invoking a 15 nM binding affinity threshold is undermined by norfenfluramine, which causes VHD at a Ki of 52 nM, well outside their proposed cutoff. The logical structure of the argument is essentially: these substances share a receptor-level property with known cardiotoxins, therefore they may share the same risk. That reasoning alone proves nothing.
More critically, the paper never seriously addresses dose-response or cumulative exposure, which are the variables that actually matter. The drugs implicated in VHD were taken daily or near-daily for months to years. A typical microdosing regimen involves sub-threshold doses two to four times per week, with plasma concentrations that fall to undetectable levels within hours. The cumulative receptor occupancy burden is categorically different from the comparator drugs, and no attempt is made to quantify that gap. The authors themselves acknowledge that no controlled studies have assessed VHD risk in microdosers, and that the existing microdosing research literature spans weeks rather than the years over which VHD develops. Sharing this paper as evidence that microdosing is dangerous to your heart is a significant misrepresentation of what it actually concludes.
