An Introduction to our Psychedelic Medicine, Research & Microdosing Forum 7

Greetings!
Psychedelics have long been used in the treatment and management of various ailments, such as psilocybin mushrooms for cluster headaches (sometimes referred to as "cluster busters"), ibogaine for breaking cycles of addiction and ketamine for treatment resistant depression. There is an active movement toward the use of various psychedelics and their derivatives in a clinical context, attempting to find new ways to treat physical and mental health problems through both hallucinogenic and non-hallucinogenic techniques. This forum is designed to discuss both the longstanding as well as the more experimental therapies that psychedelics are playing a key role in. Some of these therapies overlap with the practice of microdosing, and so we also welcome the anecdotal discussion of your own microdosing techniques, and what pros and cons these practices create for you in your own life.
While this burgeoning field of research is extremely exciting, we do not want anyone to be under the impression that we are an accredited medical resource; we are (by and large) not doctors! As we would advocate for almost everything, take what you read here with a healthy dose of skepticism and expand your scope of research beyond the Shroomery in efforts to fact check and learn as much as you can about the use, effects and risks of any substance you decide to put into your body, for whatever the reason may be.
Following are a few resources & articles we think are worth checking out: (if you have a suggestion that would fit in this list, let us know!)

I am fairly excited about the potential for this focus in reference to having its own forum. It is relevant to the now, will help consolidate a sparse array of informal data points into something more coherent, and is important to me personally due to some promising developments that have happened via my limited experience microdosing over the past six months (to help with the treatment of my anxiety disorder and PTSD). Thanks to the administrators here for this development. Let the journey begin.

This board was sorely needed, as there is a clear distinction between people who use it in microdose and for medicinal purposes, be it cluster busting or under shaman guidance, and people who use it more or less recreationally and without guidance.
At the Shroomery we are SERIOUS about psychedelics, and its a fact that nowadays, not just Trippers and Psychonauts seek these experiences.

So pleased to see this new forum. I have no disrespect for my friends who enjoy psychedelics recreationally. I have done so many, many times and sometimes still do. But in the past several years I have become far more interested in the medicinal and potential psychological benefits.
I look forward to watching this forum and the entire field of research grow.

Really excited to see this added to the forums. I have been a long time wallflower here at the Shroomery (about 5 yrs) so this is my very first post. My neurological condition led me here to research the compounds produced in psychedelic plants and seeds in the hopes of living a productive life or at the very least be able to live a life worth living. I am a ClusterHead, psychedelics hands down saved my life and has the potential to heal so many more. Communities of citizen scientists have the platform and technology in this day and age to share their experiences/research to raise awareness to the science behind these magical medicines. The more people speak the harder it will be not to listen. Thank you for this addition and I look forward to contributing my experience with treating cluster headaches, their prevention, and microdosing.

I would try MAPS, they have resources for mental health providers in regards to training and research opportunities.

I don't want to be specific as to remain my anonymity (somewhat), but I'm studying in Canada. I'm an undergraduate at the moment but I'm aiming towards clinical psychology.
I highly recommend joining the MAPS graduate student listserve. There's many other grad students posting on there and lots of info about training opportunities: https://maps.org/resources/students/2577-maps-graduate-student-listserv
I've also heard good things about SSDP's psychedelic pipeline: https://ssdp.org/blog/category/psychedelic-pipeline/. You have to become an SSDP member before applying, but if you have an interest in psychedelic therapy/training, it doesn't hurt to be involved in drug policy reform, harm reduction, etc. initiatives. I've found policy reform organizations to be the best way to get in on training opportunities and connect with psychedelic-minded people.
Lastly, this website seems to be just starting up with some popularity: https://www.psychedelicgrad.com/
It seems to me that getting in on psychedelic training & research seems to be done more by the the people you know rather than your GPA. But on the bright side, I'm seeing that trend become less and less prominent as psychedelic research becomes more integrated into academia. Feel free to PM me if you want to connect!

That's a great topic to discover and learn from it. I have an uncle who had issues due to Elmiron and I think she would love to read this.

I heard about this chemical before. It's terrifying knowing that people were not aware of it at all.

I wonder if anyone has tried microdosing shrooms for the treatment of adult ADHD. I've read that there are better psychedelics for this, but shrooms appear to be more accessible. Standard treatment for ADHD has some nasty side effects for me. Anyone have any insight on this?
