I find the cap is normally easier for tissue samples from them

Trying to extract “ clean” tissue from the interior of a mushroom this small was trickier than expected. Started 5 plates, maybe I’ll get lucky.

I just use some long needle point tweezers. Did it once with a scalpel and I feel pretty lucky cause it was not graceful.

These guys like me at least

Drying fruits for cloning is great advice
Never had the pleasure of thinking of it
Tested it today on some semis

If its good i might be able to save my 2024 cultures

Cyans or Allenii from a patch started summer 2023 but didn’t fruit last fall. I really love how some of them are fruiting directly out of the moss covered stick. Maybe they will naturalize to the area

I’ve had a goal to do a wood lover project with psilocybe cyanescens. A couple months into it and I’m back at square one.

Bought a wild collected print off a vendor, it was small and a light print and I was surprised I couldn’t get any activity off of it. I paid again for a larger darker colored print and this one still is lifeless. I went thorough so many iterations of spore spreading and rehydration. Made sterile water with magnet spinners to hydrate the spores, even tried transferring the magnetic spin bar to agar, and nothing. All I’ve got is sterile agar

Not sure if this is common for these species but it has me stumped. If anyone is feeling generous and has a print or a wedge available please let me know.

I want to send you a Cyanescens or whatever it is from this grow.. but it did take 2-3years to fruit

Pm 🤠

However one of those years were the driest summer in 19y in the region

And my method was not shroomery approved
And they are fruiting well considering both size and effort

spot number 2.  Cyanescens patch I started last year has started fruiting. I’m pretty excited . I’m going to start more clones on Sunday, this time with tweezers.😁

Cyan/azzys in a natural area with lots of branches and wood degree. Patch created this past spring. These things are really chunky and still growing!

Okay so it's clear my outdoor grow isn't going to fruit this season. I'm not sure if I just started it too late (spawned 7/17) or if I didn't have ideal surface condition these last few weeks.

What should I do with it until spring? Try to expand it? Bring it indoors?

I'm disappointed. I see y'all already posting woodlovers, yet my Azzy spots I've inoculated last year have no activity. Perhaps even the myc is dead, hard to say.

It might be still too warm for them to be fruiting, but they usually show up much sooner for other folks. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The myc always starts colonizing super vigorously.

Weather is playing along perfectly pretty much here for my lazy hand, plenty of intermittent rain... hoping this season is gonna go long

Mine are never uniform and ready for harvest all at once, so I am always picking amongst various beds to get the finished ones out without damaging any of the new pins that are also often emerging alongside

pulled some ready ones

things seem to be going good, I hope the freeze hangs back for a good while eh

Sorry for your troubles Adas, I feel your pain

I also have an azzy bed that does nothing but is visibly myceliated for a couple of years already and persists, but simply never ever fruits. I would love to see it pop even one fruit once lol, occasionally a psytharella will pop at the periphery of the little bed and I will get excited at first glance and then :facepalm3:

I have another one that is even older but the critters dig it up mercilessly so I am pretty sure it is dead and all bets are off

I feel your suffering, brother

Outside we dont control the seasons

The woodlover masters and peers in this may claim that they do is easy, downplaying their sick skillz, but outdoor growing is its own game with its own very big and complex context (da world)

What we do inside is simplified in a sense, its neat and controlly. Wrapped up, square and symmetric

There is a reason they say there are good and bad years for the outside mushroom foragers, some years good some years bad

I in typical fashion have attempted to fight nature outside, by watering, catering to, going to War with The bugs,

But the shrooms came after sort of giving up
Which is magically ironic

And fitting! Mushrooms are teachers
