What temperature for an electric stove?
    #2892017 - 07/15/04 12:45 AM (19 years, 8 months ago)

On http://www.fungifun.org/pf/pf_en.htm, under sterilization of the jar it says heat them on medium flame for about 15 minutes...on an electric stove would that be the same as putting it on warm? or something hotter/cooler?

Just bang it on max, wait til it starts spitting out the dooviewhacker, then drop it until it's a constant steady stream of dooviewhacking (just under halfway on my stove).

So put it on high until it starts spitting water (the little amount of water inside the pot - not the jars)and then lower the temperature till it stops bubbling all over the place and there is a nice steady stream of steam?

I put mine on Medium(1/2 way) for a lil over a half hour, until it starts steaming. Than I turn it down just a notch and keep it there for the remainder of an hour.

I'd suggest reading your PC manual.

My friend read hers and it said something like "heat on high until the weight starts to rock gently, then reduce heat to the lowest setting it will continue to rock at."

I unfortunately do not have a pressure cooker...but they do give an alternative on that site. It says you put all the jars in a big pot and let the pot steam for 1 and a half hours (my oven settings are low, warm, medium, medium high, and high so I guess I’ll put it on medium high until it boils and then put it on warm for the remainder of the time?) but will this dry out the water I put in the jar’s (on the vermiculite) because it doesn’t mention anything about that on the site.
