Pretty sure homestead was lost for years and then someone found some old spores fairly recently.

I agree with the notion that a little too much is going into strain hype. Not saying there is nothing to the different varieties but perhaps some are being oversold. I don’t want to cast shade but I think some of these are less of distinct variants and just a group of one variant that produced a range of phenotypes due to ms. However that’s just my opinion. If people know better please share the reasons why. I’m open to hearing them.

I like how RW is referenced as a parent to a cross on this list but isn’t considered a cross on its own. It was for the record AA+ and Colombian Rust Spore.

Agreed. The list is really cool, but the history is more important to the community IMO. Always nice to know where we came from and some of those have passed. Respect thy elders damn it. :oldman: Even that Pasty guy

Homesteads PE is Rich (Gutierrez) Gee's PE. He merged with them when he closed Mycotech. Homestead even does the same Mycotech style kits now.

I’m with you on that.

I joined a Facebook group and kept seeing all these varieties I’ve never heard of, I’m talking like 30+ kinds. So I started digging around and as far as I can tell 90% aren’t really anything new.

These guys are mostly just growing for instance ape, cloning a fruit, and then giving it a new name.

There’s a lot of awesome stuff out there but unless you’re getting clone plates there’s a lot of them that are essentially the same spores under 6-7 names.

I've joined a couple FB groups as well and they come out with new " strains" every week.

I've contacted a couple of the member/vendors and at least one seems to be creating a couple actual strains.

He also told me that most of his varieties were clone culture LC and aren't actual strains.

The TAT lines are more interesting to me than the PE stuff. Also the Shakti (albino Malabar) descendants are very cool looking.

I feel like I've seen this posted somewhere on some thread before but here is the TAT family tree. I believe most of these are stable "strains".

This is an image from a vendors site. Please let me know if it's not OK to post and I'll delete it.

Stable or not some of these genetics would be fun to work with  to try and isolate and stabilize something.
