Re: Theoretical Proposal for a Unified Field Theory [Re: sudly] * 1

If someone were to ask me what I think of string theory, I would say:

"I haven't deeply considered string theory, as I lean more towards loop quantum gravity (LQG) theory. However, it's crucial to integrate insights from quantum field fluctuations, as highlighted by Dirac, which show that space isn't a true vacuum but is filled with dynamic quantum activity.

Both string theory and LQG acknowledge that space is not empty but seethes with quantum fluctuations and vacuum energy. This proposal’s emphasis on the vacuum’s dynamic nature aligns with both theories by recognising that light’s propagation is influenced by the underlying structure of space, whether it’s strings or quantum loops.

In LQG, spacetime itself is quantised and composed of discrete loops or spin networks, which specifically characterise its approach and define the geometry of spacetime at the smallest scales.

In string theory, the fundamental constituents of the universe are one-dimensional strings whose vibrations determine the properties of particles and fields, with these vibrations specifically characterising its approach.

The refractive index formula n = 1 + (Δ𝑡 x c)/D fits into both frameworks by quantifying how quantum fluctuations and vacuum energy in both string theory and LQG affect light propagation. Spin networks, which specifically characterise the LQG approach, differ from the vibrational modes of strings that characterise the string theory approach, providing distinct yet complementary views on the nature of spacetime and its interaction with light.

The recognition of vacuum energy and the quantum-affected vacuum allows a common language between the two theories, aiding in bridging them conceptually and providing a more comprehensive understanding of the universe’s underlying structure.

Additionally, the stellar mergers discussed in this proposal might theoretically bend the fabric of spacetime and guide the specific phase trajectory of the gamma ray that follows through the intensity of the gravitational waves that precede its detection, with the conditions specific to the merger scenario depicting the precise scale of the gravitational wave. This illustrates the profound influence of such extreme environments on light propagation."

Quote:
The visualisations depict a gamma ray photon emitted from a neutron star merger, traveling through a warped spacetime landscape shaped by intense gravitational waves. The fabric of spacetime is bent and fluctuating due to the gravitational waves, which precede the gamma ray photon. The gamma ray, represented as a bright beam or streak of light, follows a horizontal phase trajectory guided and altered by the preceding gravitational waves. These images illustrate the profound influence of such extreme environments, with dense matter and strong magnetic fields, on the light's journey across the cosmos.

And for that more boiled down point of view, my perspective is as follows;

Quote:
Comparative Analysis of Fundamental Constants and Theoretical Proposals

The proposal in this study aims to theoretically calculate a refractive index derived from first principles, incorporating insights from edge wave diffraction and quantum fluctuations.

This approach challenges the traditional understanding of light propagation by recognising that in non-vacuum environments, such as those surrounding neutron star and black hole mergers, light interacts with particles and fields, significantly altering its phase trajectory.

This innovative proposal invites us to reconsider the constancy of the speed of light and its behaviour in extreme cosmic environments. By calculating the refractive index from first principles, this study demonstrates how small deviations in the speed of light, influenced by dense mediums and quantum fluctuations, can accumulate over vast cosmic distances.

These deviations result in measurable delays in gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) relative to gravitational waves (GWs), providing empirical evidence that light's phase velocity is affected by the medium through which it travels.

Environmental Differences in Stellar Mergers
Comparing the black hole merger (GW150914) and the neutron star merger (GW170817), we observe significant environmental differences that influence the refractive index and, consequently, light's phase velocity.

The denser, more complex medium of GW170817, with its stronger electromagnetic fields and gravitational influences, results in a higher refractive index and slower light speed. Conversely, the less dense environment of GW150914 allows light to travel faster with fewer modifications to its fundamental properties.

Philosophical Reflections on Evolution
Philosophically, this understanding of light propagation reflects the broader concept of evolution across scientific disciplines. Just as organisms and societies evolve in response to their environments, fundamental constants and physical phenomena adapt to the conditions in which they exist.

This adaptive quality underscores the interconnectedness of all things, from the smallest particles to the largest cosmic structures. The dynamic interaction of light with its medium parallels evolutionary processes that drive the development of complexity and diversity in life and knowledge.

Recognising the variability of the speed of light in different environments challenges long-held assumptions and exemplifies the evolutionary nature of scientific inquiry. Our understanding of the universe is not static but continually evolves, influenced by ever-changing cosmic conditions.

This perspective aligns with quantum mechanics and general relativity, describing a universe filled with dynamic quantum activity and spacetime curvature.

Conclusion
By demonstrating how light's propagation is influenced by extreme environments, this study provides new insights into the fundamental processes governing the universe. This understanding bridges the gap between quantum mechanics and general relativity, offering a more comprehensive view of the nature of light and gravity.

The dynamic interplay between light and its medium, as seen in stellar mergers, reflects the broader evolutionary processes that shape reality, from fundamental physics to the development of scientific theories.

This quantum-scale reduction, resulting in observable-scale delays, underscores the profound impact of cosmic environments on the fundamental constants of physics, illustrating the continuous evolution of our understanding of the universe.

Brendan said: Sudly.. what do you think of string theory?

In my personal opinion, string theory, while revolutionary in its time, is now superseded by the integration of theoretical implications from Loop Quantum Gravity theory, Pilot Wave theory, and Bohmian mechanics.

I am positing that these frameworks provide a more comprehensive understanding of the fundamental nature of the universe, combining the strengths of quantum mechanics and general relativity to explain complex phenomena.

Quote:
Bohmian mechanics, also known as pilot wave theory, explains the deterministic and non-local nature of particle behaviour by incorporating insights from edge wave theory. In classical physics, diffraction is described by the Huygens–Fresnel principle, which treats each point in a propagating wavefront as a collection of individual spherical wavelets. This concept is crucial in understanding how waves bend and spread, influencing the guiding wave in Bohmian mechanics.

The refractive index, phase velocity, and phase trajectory are key elements in this theory. The refractive index, influenced by the interaction between the particle (gamma ray) and the guiding wave (gravitational wave), determines the reduction in phase velocity. The phase velocity, or the speed at which the phase of the wave propagates, decreases as the refractive index increases. The phase trajectory, or the path that the gamma ray follows, is altered by the gravitational wave, causing it to follow a curved path.

Unlike the Copenhagen interpretation, which relies on superposition, Bohmian mechanics describes entanglement as a non-local connection where changes in one particle instantaneously affect another, regardless of distance. In the context of gravitational waves preceding gamma rays, the gravitational wave acts as a guiding wave, influencing the gamma rays’ phase trajectory and demonstrating non-locality.

Integration with Loop Quantum Gravity, which posits that spacetime is quantised into discrete loops or spin networks, aligns with the non-local interactions in Bohmian mechanics. This combined perspective offers a comprehensive understanding of how gravitational waves influence gamma-ray bursts, bridging quantum mechanics and general relativity.

All I'm asking is to consider editting those sequential thoughts into a single post.

Generally, I find quantum entanglement more enticing than superposition, but that is my interpretation. Regarding dimensions, the three spatial dimensions and the one temporal dimension provide a robust framework for classical physics and general relativity.

However, they may not fully account for the complexities observed at the quantum level and the non-local effects described by Bohmian mechanics, pilot wave theory, and loop quantum gravity (LQG).

Therefore, a single, unified dimension that encompasses the various quantum scale effects proposed by these theories might be necessary. This unified quantum dimension would integrate the concepts of non-locality, quantum foam, spin networks, phase interactions, field interactions, and entanglement into one cohesive framework.

Yes, David Bohm extensively studied plasma physics, significantly advancing our understanding of electron behaviour in magnetic fields. Beyond that, he theorised about order and levels of order, proposing concepts like the implicate and explicate order, and the holomovement, which suggest a deeper interconnectedness of reality.

I do focus on the etheric, delicate, and subtle aspects of concrete reality in regard to these theories. However, I prefer to eschew purely metaphysical and ethereal notions. Instead of delving into abstract ideas, I emphasise the tangible aspects of these theories within more concrete scientific frameworks. For instance, Bohm’s ideas of implicate and explicate order, and the holomovement, can be interpreted within more grounded scientific contexts. My proposal expands upon these by integrating Bohmian mechanics, pilot wave theory, and loop quantum gravity.

And for a more revised statement about my opinion on dimensions.
Quote:
These theories propose a more unified and encompassing quantum scale dimension that integrates concepts of non-locality, quantum foam, spin networks, phase interactions, field interactions, and entanglement into one cohesive framework. Alternatively, there could be several quantum scale dimensions, and/or a singular, more unifying one. This approach offers a more grounded and scientifically testable understanding of the universe, effectively bridging quantum mechanics and general relativity.

And to attempt to provide an answer to the notion carried by the previous statement;

Quote:
The constants observed in the context of black hole and neutron star mergers can be related to various quantum concepts such as non-locality, quantum foam, spin networks, phase interactions, field interactions, and entanglement.

The index of refraction (n) is closely related to phase interactions, as it reflects how light propagates through different media, affecting the speed of light.

The modified speed of light (c′) relates to both non-locality and phase interactions, indicating changes in light speed due to non-local effects and different phases.

The modified fine structure constant (α′) is tied to field interactions and quantum foam, as it characterises the strength of electromagnetic interactions, reflecting how quantum foam influences fundamental forces.

The modified elementary charge (e′) pertains to field interactions and entanglement, showing how charged particles interact within electromagnetic fields and the nature of quantum entanglement.

The modified theta angle (θ′) involves non-locality and phase interactions, with changes reflecting non-local effects and interactions in high-energy environments.

The modified gravitational constant (G′) is linked to spin networks and quantum foam, indicating the influence of quantised spacetime structures on gravity.

Finally, the modified Planck constant (h′) relates to non-locality and quantum foam, as it is central to quantum mechanics and reflects the underlying quantum foam influencing particle behaviour and energy levels.

By relating each constant to the most relevant quantum concepts, these modified constants provide insight into intricate quantum behaviours and interactions, supporting the proposal of a unified and/or multiple quantum scale dimensions.

Non-Locality: c′, θ′, h′
Quantum Foam: α′, G′, h′
Spin Networks: G′
Phase Interactions: n, c′, θ′
Field Interactions: α′, e′
Entanglement: e′

Re: Theoretical Proposal for a Unified Field Theory [Re: BrendanFlock]

Auto-Summary
Bohm's concepts of implicate and explicate order offer a profound perspective on the nature of reality. Implicate order represents a deeper, interconnected reality where everything is enfolded into a unified whole, transcending our usual three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension. This hidden structure is not merely implied but is fundamental to the fabric of the universe.

Explicate order, in contrast, is the observable, distinct phenomena we experience in the world around us. It emerges from the deeper implicate order and is governed by the physical laws we observe. While the explicate order appears to operate independently, it is ultimately influenced by the deeper, more fundamental processes of the implicate order.

The post delves into how these concepts can be integrated with modern scientific theories such as Bohmian mechanics, pilot wave theory, and loop quantum gravity. These theories propose a unified quantum scale dimension that encompasses non-locality, quantum foam, spin networks, phase interactions, field interactions, and entanglement. These elements collectively form the implicate order, providing a more comprehensive framework that bridges quantum mechanics and general relativity.

The author suggests that implicate and explicate orders are not simply implied and explained but are dynamically interconnected, with the implicate order exerting control over the explicate order

Your interpretation of implicate and explicate order as implied and explained order, respectively, touches on the surface but misses some of the deeper nuances of Bohm's concepts.

In Bohm's theory, implicate order refers to a deeper, underlying reality where everything is fundamentally interconnected and enfolded into everything else. It suggests that the fields of the entire universe are entangled in a unified whole, and what we perceive as separate entities are actually parts of this interconnected web.

This concept is not just about implied order, but rather about a fundamental, hidden structure of reality that is not immediately visible. The geometrics of this hidden structure imply a multi-dimensional framework that includes the familiar three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension, overlaid with a complex quantum scale dimension.

This quantum scale dimension(implicate) encompasses multiple layers of order and levels of order, building on and expanding Bohm's ideas. It suggests a detailed and structured underlying reality, with various interconnected layers at the quantum level that interact to produce the observed phenomena.

Explicate order, on the other hand, is the unfolded, manifest world we experience with our senses. It represents the distinct, separate objects and phenomena that emerge from the underlying implicate order. This order is not just explained, but it is the observable reality that arises from the deeper, interconnected implicate order.

While the explicate order appears to be governed by distinct physical laws and interactions, it is ultimately influenced and controlled by the deeper, more fundamental processes of the implicate order. This suggests that the explicate order is a manifestation of varying levels of control exerted by the underlying implicate structure.

In the context of my proposal, these concepts can be understood within more tangible scientific frameworks. My proposal expands upon Bohm's ideas by integrating Bohmian mechanics, pilot wave theory, and loop quantum gravity.

These theories propose a more unified and encompassing quantum scale dimension that integrates concepts of non-locality, quantum foam, spin networks, phase interactions, field interactions, and entanglement into one cohesive framework. This unified dimension corresponds to the implicate order, representing the deeper, interconnected structure of reality.

The modified constants and observable phenomena, such as the modified speed of light and fine structure constant, correspond to the explicate order, the manifest reality emerging from the implicate order.

Therefore, while implicate and explicate orders do involve different levels of order, they are more than just implied and explained. They represent a dynamic interaction between the hidden and visible aspects of reality, with varying levels of control exerted by the implicate order on the explicate order. My proposal aims to explore and expand upon these interactions scientifically.

This approach offers a more grounded and scientifically testable understanding of the universe, effectively bridging quantum mechanics and general relativity.

For a more personalised interpretation;
Quote:
I think of Bohm’s implicate order as comprising folded quantum scale dimensions, representing the deeper, interconnected layers of order and control that underlie everything. In contrast, I see the explicate order as the unfolded dimensions, where the distinct, observable phenomena we experience manifest.

In my proposal, I expand on Bohm’s ideas by integrating Bohmian mechanics, pilot wave theory, and loop quantum gravity. These theories suggest that the hidden, folded dimensions of the implicate order encompass concepts like non-locality, quantum foam, spin networks, phase interactions, field interactions, and entanglement.

Non-local effects, in particular, highlight how distant particles can instantaneously influence each other, demonstrating the interconnected nature of the implicate order.

Quantum foam represents the fluctuating, frothy nature of spacetime at the smallest scales, indicating that the fabric of reality is dynamic and constantly changing.

Spin networks describe the discrete structure of spacetime itself, suggesting a granular, interconnected web at the quantum level.

Phase interactions involve the way waves and particles interact and combine their phases, influencing observable phenomena.

Field interactions pertain to how different fields, such as electromagnetic and gravitational fields, interact and influence each other.

Entanglement, specifically, illustrates how particles remain connected even when separated by vast distances, further emphasising the profound interconnectedness of the implicate order.

Together, these factors work to give rise to the visible, unfolded aspects of our universe, making the explicate order a manifestation of the dynamic, underlying implicate order.

Re: Theoretical Proposal for a Unified Field Theory [Re: BrendanFlock]

To take this Unified Field Theory to its utmost limits of falsifiability, it is essential to thoughtfully critique and appreciate David Bohm's contributions. By understanding his insights, we can consider how integrating them with more recent theories, such as edge wave diffraction theory and phase velocity, might catalyse our understanding of the proposal.

Quote:
David Bohm's contributions to quantum mechanics, particularly his interpretation involving implicate and explicate orders, provided a holistic framework that emphasised interconnectedness and non-locality. However, his ideas were not without criticism and limitations. Expanding upon his concepts to explain phenomena such as the lifecycle of stars, neutron stars, and their mergers requires addressing these criticisms and integrating more recent developments in quantum mechanics and astrophysics.

Criticisms of Bohm's Ideas:

Lack of Empirical Evidence:

Bohm's interpretation, including the implicate order, is largely philosophical and lacks direct empirical validation.

The deterministic nature of Bohm's theory is difficult to test experimentally, as it requires hidden variables that have not been observed.

Complexity and Non-locality:

Bohmian mechanics introduces complex mathematical formulations and non-local interactions, which can be challenging to reconcile with the more straightforward probabilistic nature of standard quantum mechanics.

Compatibility with Relativity:

Integrating Bohmian mechanics with general relativity remains problematic. Non-locality in Bohm's theory appears to conflict with the relativistic principle that information cannot travel faster than light.

The actual name of the proposal as of now is:

Information Transfer and Wave Propagation in the Universe.

But this name is open to change,

I propose exploring the solar-scale equivalent of the phase and amplitude characteristics of sound waves, manifesting in the forms of gravity waves and gamma rays. By examining these phenomena through the lens of David Bohm's insights and integrating them with modern theories like edge wave diffraction and phase velocity, we can advance our understanding of their interaction and influence on the spacetime continuum.

We can extend this clarification to explain Cherenkov radiation too.

Quote:
Integrating Bohmian mechanics with general relativity has traditionally been problematic due to the conflict between non-locality in Bohm's theory, which implies instantaneous connections between particles, and the relativistic principle that information cannot travel faster than light.

This proposal clarifies the given conflict by suggesting that while information in Bohmian mechanics cannot travel faster than light, it can match the speed of light or lag behind, thus maintaining consistency with the relativistic framework.

This means non-local influences in Bohmian mechanics operate at or below the speed of light in a vacuum.

Similarly, the phenomenon of Cherenkov radiation, traditionally explained as occurring when a charged particle travels through a dielectric medium, like heavy water, at a speed greater than the phase velocity of light in that medium, is clarified by noting that this phase velocity is slower than the speed of light in a vacuum.

Therefore, the charged particle is not exceeding the universal speed limit but only the reduced phase velocity in the medium.

This clarification of Cherenkov radiation parallels the clarification of non-locality in Bohmian mechanics, proposing that non-local influences can propagate similarly to charged electrons in Cherenkov radiation, adhering to relativistic constraints.

By ensuring that information in Bohmian mechanics travels at or below the speed of light, we preserve relativistic principles and causality.

Just as the phase velocity in a medium like heavy water can be slower than the speed of light in a vacuum, non-local influences can propagate within these constraints..

This integration reconciles Bohmian mechanics with general relativity, enhancing our understanding of quantum influences within the limits of light speed and supporting a unified theoretical framework consistent with both quantum mechanics and general relativity.

And for further visual clarity,

I think the idea that the slits in the double-slit experiment could alter the phase velocity of particles or waves is fascinating and might help us expand our understanding of various quantum phenomena.

The double-slit experiment itself is well-accepted as an illustration of wave interference, and while the interpretation of wave function collapse is debated, this proposal focuses on the interaction of phase velocity with the slits.

I also think this perspective offers intriguing parallels to Cherenkov radiation and non-local influences in Bohmian mechanics, suggesting that subtle changes in phase velocity could play a crucial role.

In exploring this theoretical context, I think we might be able to gain deeper insights into how the mediums and interference patterns involved in the double-slit experiment are theorised to interact, possibly leading to a more interconnected and comprehensive grasp, understanding, and view of the quantum world.

I think being able to grasp the concept of phase velocity is key to this proposal.

And since we have technology to record at 10 trillion frames per second, we can already gain insights by observing the phenomena of photon phase velocities, or the speed and direction at which the phase of a wave propagates through space.

As seen here;

Because I am proposing a methodology to use data points from high-energy lightwaves in gamma-ray bursts to detect the small, theorised difference in the speed of light for different wavelengths.

@16:10

The direction of this proposal now is in exploring how these clarifications in Bohmian Mechanics and Cherenkov radiation might be applied to our understanding of Bronshtein's physics cube.

Quote:
This version of Bronshtein's physics cube shows how the main theories of physics are related - and which limits define them.

https://www.motionmountain.net/physicscube.html

And so for my take on the issue of clarifying Bronshtein's physics cube.
Quote:
This proposal confirms the validity of the hoop conjecture by demonstrating that non-local influences in Bohmian mechanics adhere to the speed limit imposed by relativity, thereby avoiding the introduction of higher-order terms in the Lagrangian that could complicate gravitational predictions.

By ensuring that information in Bohmian mechanics propagates at or below the speed of light, the proposal aligns with the maximum force concept inherent in general relativity, which is closely tied to the hoop conjecture.

The hoop conjecture posits that if an amount of mass-energy is compressed into a region such that a hoop of circumference 2𝜋r can be placed around it in every direction, a black hole will form. This proposal supports this by maintaining the relativistic constraints, thus preserving the simplicity and validity of the conjecture.

Furthermore, this clarification of Bohmian Mechanics and Cherenkov radiation reconciles gravity, entanglement, and quantum mechanics within relativistic constraints by showing that phase velocity alterations due to medium interactions, like those seen in Cherenkov radiation, can be understood in terms of non-local quantum effects that do not violate the speed of light limit.

This perspective integrates the continuous and smooth nature of spacetime in general relativity with the non-local connections of entangled particles in quantum mechanics. By ensuring that these quantum influences propagate within the speed of light, the proposal provides a unified framework that respects both quantum mechanics and general relativity, thus bridging the gap between these foundational theories.

Unified Quantum Relativity (UQR) [Re: BrendanFlock]
    #28894397 -

To provide a clearer and more accessible understanding of the proposal, we can start by focusing on a more grounded, surface-level description of what the theory implies, without delving too deeply into the complex background information.

Quote:
In revisiting Bronshtein's Physics Cube through the lens of Unified Quantum Relativity (UQR), I propose a refined framework that addresses the longstanding challenges in unifying quantum mechanics, general relativity, and other fundamental aspects of physics.

Bronshtein's Physics Cube has traditionally mapped the relationships and limits between these domains, particularly under extreme conditions such as those involving quantum gravity.

However, UQR introduces essential refinements and slight alterations, particularly by proposing that fundamental forces and interactions, such as gravity and quantum entanglement, can be understood through adjusted principles like phase velocity and non-locality.

The proposal refines existing principles by introducing the concept that phase velocity—traditionally understood as a constant in a vacuum—can be slower in certain mediums, such as dielectric materials, leading to phenomena like Cherenkov radiation.

This alteration provides a crucial insight into how quantum information and non-local influences propagate, ensuring that they remain consistent with relativistic constraints.

By integrating these concepts with holomovement, the hoop conjecture, and the foundational theories of Loop Quantum Gravity and Bohmian mechanics, UQR offers a unified framework that bridges quantum mechanics and general relativity.

This approach not only clarifies the interactions between these forces but also extends our understanding beyond existing models, allowing for a more comprehensive and cohesive interpretation of the fundamental principles governing the universe.

It might initially seem like a 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' moment or something you'd find on a Minties wrapper about the nature of the universe, but there's actually a profound proposal here that, when broken down, reveals a more grounded and cohesive understanding of the cosmos.

It's either that or you believe in the superluminal.

Quote:
Philosophically, this approach invites us to consider the implications of non-locality and phase velocity in our social and ethical behaviours. If the universe is fundamentally interconnected, then our actions—no matter how small—can have far-reaching effects, much like the quantum influences in UQR. This can lead to a greater sense of responsibility and mindfulness in our daily lives, knowing that what we do resonates beyond our immediate surroundings.
