*I posted this earlier in the psychedelic medicine, research and micro dosing section, but have since realized it may go better in this forum . This is just some consolidated info I have compiled and is all basically off the top of my head . I highly suggest looking into what little info there is available about this plants usage as an entheogen . Most of what's available has nothing to do with using the plant this way so . I am bridging a bit of that gap by posting what I have done with it and know about it together for further people's research to arch around, through, or over.
Sidas containing ephedrine/phenylpropanolamine are a rather underacknowledged common weed .
The most fantastic plant by far, that I have foraged in my entheogenic quest . 13 years I have been scrounging up any bit of knowledge and plant material to pass my time and learn from the universe . I had passed up this and Ephedras for many years until late in December of 2022 when they began to pique my interest . Which came once I learned about the " 1.3-2.6% Ephedrine alkaloids per volume dry weight " . You mean per 100 grams there's potentially a HALF GRAM of Ephedrines and PEAs ? Having made poor man's opium from Poppy seeds as a passed time hobby my entire adult hood, and doing many other extractions on cannabis and others, the idea of gathering a few large Sida R. Plants and garnering 250-600mg of alkaloids locked up in plant resins and cell material seemed like a very practical way to have some fun .
I have been using Sida Rhombifolia wild harvested here in Florida for the last year and a half .
It has helped me stop using methamphetamine . But on top of that, it has made me question the health concerns of caffeine, cannabis, tabacco and nicotine and with using even it, Sida itself . I've now even stopped drinking after 6 years of a heavy alcoholism . I suspect this plants materials may contain anti addictive properties . At least if used with this purpose in mind .
I have stopped smoking cigarettes, I'm weening off cannabis as I speak and I no longer drink coffee daily and I'm about to to drop caffeine entirely . I no longer use Sida regularly . But since I began using it I have more and more questioned EVERYTHING I put into my body . I do not know if this is an individual experience or what but this is one of the most significant impacts I've ever had from an entheogen .
I did some shrooms, about two weeks ago, 1.2 grams of penis envy, hadn't tripped in 6 years . All I got was the message that I was on the right track in life and that my interests in this and several other plant species were things brought to me by the universe and I either was going to pursue them like I have or I'd ignore them... I suppose I chose the right path . I don't normally get affirmations of my hobbies from psychedelic trips . Truly . This trip was like no other . Very calm but full of meaning . And I was told to share . So here I am sharing . Sharing something that's become very meaningful to me .
I wasn't trying to use it for more than as a substitute for illicit methamphetamine .
I and my wife had been on meth for several years when we suddenly needed to stop and Sida Rhombifolia helped us both quit .
She is less prone to having multiple addictions at the same time . I am . I do ALOT of spiritual works and have always used entheogens perhaps to an excess, however, I have been COMPLETELY turned .
After this long of being infatuated with this species I have begun to grow Sida Cordifolia and I have many Sida Rhombifolia plants in my yard I've been cultivating wild .
A plant with this much potential cannot be overlooked . It is ABUNDANT in the Americas .
Mixing with tobacco and cannabis is unique . Making an opium like extract rosin of the roots is a fantastic stimulant . Mixes well with raw opium for a speedball like effect with minimal hang over .
For further specifics on Sida, the methods of consumption of Sida R. that I HAVE USED is as: smoking extracts of the root on tea leaves and tobacco or cannabis, brewing root and leaf as a tea or in a coffee pot with coffee grounds, and smoking the leaf itself in bongs pipes and cigarettes .
Distilled Water extracts the ephedrine well from the roots when a small amount of 91% isopropanol is added and the whole immersion is warmed . Air drying results in crude resinous extracts that are easily smoked . Crystals are not hard to render if employing liquid/liquid phase extraction techniques such as acid/base then rendering the Hydrochlorinated anions through gassing or stirring and dropp wise additions of HCL .
I have dabbed Sida Rhombifolia root extracts, I HIGHLY ADVISE AGAINST IT the method of ingestion is highly efficous and vaporizes ephedrine/PPA and it's a bit too much . It is comparable to ecstasy pills or bath salts from the gas station speed days . Not TOO intense but you can feel youre closer to death than if you HADNT done it . Lmao. If that makes any sense . Ephedrine isn't exactly dose tolerated by the body unless you're an everyday user of it .
This material can be Peracetic oxidized into containing small amounts of Methcathinone or even reacted the Moscow method way into "Black tar Meth" . I have seen it done .
I am adding this to this thread for scientific recording of my psychonautic experiences . I am attempting to make this as brief as possible . This information to me is too valuable not to share .
This plant and it's extrudable constituents are HIGHLY PREVALENT IN THE UNITED STATES AND ARE UNDER VALUED. QUITE LITERAL SLASH AND BURN TACTICS ARE USED TO CONTROL THIS PLANT BY UNSUSPECTING COUNTY WORKS AND FARM COOPS DURING SPRING AND SUMMER .
A LOT of research suggests the plants has ZERO PSUEDOEPHEDRINE . At a glance it contains what is classified as simple EPHEDRINES, this plant contains either cathine or Phenylpropanolamine and phenethylamineS. Along with ephedrine . Cathine and PPA are often mischaracterized is analytical analysis as Psuedoephedrine due to the lack of specific interest in these compounds when they are found .
A series of lab reports from American universities from between 2007 to present suggest this misidentification further by suggesting PPAs presence and it being unclear even in these analytical works the specifics of the suspect ppas stereochemistry or chirality . Again, not what they were looking for when it was found there .
This plant and others in the species Sida have strong anti microbial and antifungal properties . As well as anticanceral potential .
I could also say that this plant may have implications in American national security due to this. As well as being a way to substitute meth in addicts . 2 problems, same coin .
The super massiveness of science and it's discoveries ..... It's endless. Use this for what you will, that is why I have presented it in this way .
