This is something I used to wanna do badly,  though now a days I have no desire to, being homeless changed my mind about wanting to do that stuff.  I just wouldn't be happy not having a bed to sleep in.  Parts of still seem like it would be fun like train hoping with all the spectacular views of the mountains.

Ya the irony is that I started traveling by train as the result of homelessness. This isn't some Into the wild thing for me I've been struggling to get off the streets for a long time now

Even this past year when I go sober and been working on myself still got kicked out from my living situation by someone who ironically started drinking heavy again and I couldn't afford rent in california.

Instead of staying somewhere I know isn't gonna work for me I go back to the trains and find somewhere else to work and get off the road and now I'm in st louis just worked myself off the road again and trying to stay here.

The road is awful most of the time. The parts yall think are nice are a very small part of it. I Try to make the most out of shitty situation for my sanity and decide to take pictures and use humor because when you are truly in it all you have left is your sanity.

In fact its why I don't give info for hop outs or try and encourage it when people private message me because it's honestly not all that great and it really sucks to try and get off the road.

A lot of you would do it for a couple weeks and go home. I already know this sadly because I've seen it and witnessed it time and time again.

After almost a decade of trying to run from myself I realize you take yourself everywhere with you. Whatever you are feeling you will not escape by running away. I like being able to use the trains as a way to get around when I can because i know where they go so its nothing second to an amtrak to me but it came with a lot of sacrifice/trauma I wouldn't repeat or recommend and it is seriously dumb luck I'm still alive.

Well I hope it all eventually works out for you man.  It's easy to see how people would get the wrong idea about train hoping not fully realizing the falls of it all like getting arrested for trespassing for one thing.  Even with the right head on your shoulders it's definitely a tough ride. I would hope people would think twice about doing so too.

Well at one point I geniuely didn't care if I lived or died in a nihilistic death wish kind of way. I was very suicidal at the time of being homeless in my hometown and deciding to walk in my head was a form of it and I spent a long time on the road welcoming death and encouraged it and as a result I gained some knowledge about trains but if you're gonna do it you gotta fully commit cause there is a massive chance you'll permanently fuck up your life for a joy ride. When I got tickets I'd use them to wipe my ass later and laugh as I got on the next train knowing I wouldn't be showing up to court. I've still sadly had to take care of some of these tickets now that that has changed and I pulled my head out of my ass and started to want to get off the road after I stopped shooting dope in 2019. Then it just kept getting worse

I even have a titanium rod in my leg and you think id learn my lesson after breaking my leg on these damn things but nope I still love them for whatever fucked up reason.

I geniuenly don't encourage any of this and if anyone is thinking about taking off or gazing out the window wondering if there is a better life down the road unless you're already homeless and got nothing to lose and live somewhere that you know for a fact nothing will ever change for you due to the expense of the state or the current conditions then it isnt worth it and if you have a place to stay but you're a bit disgruntled and uncomfortable at the moment and bored with your life You're gonna miss that place in 2 weeks tops. Guarentee it.

Love you all. I'll stop posting about the trains on here from now on. It's not my intent to perk interest in an escapist lifestyle I just literally have lived outside more my adult life than inside and most of my pictures are trains or homelessness and it's what I share while it's going on but seriously if you got anything to lose stay home and fight through it.

Four days hiking and I've already ditched the reading and writing materials to lighten the load, so the propane tank is now a questionable convenience. I'll have to experiment with the alcohol setup. Getting a  pot holder above the flame that is lighter than the propane tank is the clincher.

Dry fuel tabs look interesting as well.  The whisper lite stoves look cool but fuel seems harder and more expensive to come by.  I've seen videos of gasification wood stoves that seem cool but look like a lot of work.
