how exactly would we change from a society that owned land to one that doesnt? also, how would land be doled out? could, say, cattle people ask for more land? if i get a piece of land for me to live on and break my back improving the house, barn, shop, etc. would my kids be able to take it after i die?
just honestly wondering how it works. i cant seem to wrap my brain around how we would convert to this society and how it would work.
thanks in advance for your replies.

I think we would be better off with a system where some land can be privately owned, and some land is collectively owned and managed. The only way for private land to become public is if the government buys it from it's current owners who willingly part with it.

so basically, many people on this board advocate it, but there is no way it will ever happen?

This is just my personal opinion. I can't speak for others.
In a way it already exists. Some of the US is public property, but the vast majority is privately owned.
I would like to see the government buy more land and ease some of the restrictions on how it can be used.
For example: I'm pretty sure you can't just go live in a National Forrest.
