but once you harvest your own, can you then make spore syringes? Or do you have to make myc syringes, agar, or g2g transfers?

Just to add some twigs to the fire, Ive take supermarket bought Agaricus bisporus (big white variety) and spore printed them. Got a nice print which later gave birth to some viable cultures. If you are very low on cash this is the way to go, just remember if you choose this way then you'd have to do multispore (prefrebly on agar), then isolate a few good sectors, then fruit them all and see which one gives the best mushrooms, then clone a mushroom then have a master culture to be put in your culture library. A little laborish, and im not sure all the work is worth the $ youre gonna save, but its up to you..........
BTW : I dip my agar wedges/fruits before transfering in 3% hydrogen peroxide bought from the pharmacy....

My 2 cents;
Portobellas are such heavy spore producers, you can take a primary 'cleaning print' before taking the second [or even third] cleaner print.  It's not perfect, but an easy step that is might help with ports.  Still would probably want to use agar, and so why not clone?  Or do both?
The quickest and easiest, of course, would be to buy from a Shroomery vendor :wink:
