James is the worst writer I've ever seen published, and I'm totally serious when I say that.. I got a few pages in and almost puked (literally). And that's not even touching on his worthless insights.. so no, I don't read them.

I enjoyed a couple of his books a few years ago, like the Celestine Prophecy. I see them as sort of introductory books to spiritual and self-improvement concepts.

Sure, technically speaking he's not the greatest writer, but I didn't find reading the books to be too much of a burden, considering there are some good basic lessons or 'insights' contained. I have reccomended the Celestine Prophecy to many friends who were beginning to show interest in spirituality or trying to become more self-aware.

I give him a thumbs up.

I read the first one and found it to be very watered down new age pseudoshamanism.

Yeah, I much prefer the full-strength pseudo-shamanism.  :tongue2:

read all 4 that I know about. Style isn't so good but he put important insights into works of fiction. I believe the profoundness of these philosophies are strong enough to make up for any lack of literary talent. Should be required reading for anyone searching for truth.

All right...to be more specific. It was a regurgitation of generic spiritual platitudes put into the context of a poorly written story. While I believe truth can cloak itself in fiction, all the truth in the world wont help bad writing encumbered with tired cliches.

What makes a weed a weed? Depends on who one asks. A field of wildflowers to one person is a field full of weeds to another.

There's good things everywhere you look; there's also tired, generic, poor, bad, regurgitated stuff. Depends on what you're looking for.
