I used to operate an old Belarus tractor at one of my jobs. That thing was indestructible.

I hadn't thought it out that far.

But the point wouldn't be about Belarus, per se.

It would be something about how we've engaged then disengaged with Belarus - what that suggests about us.

At the time, patriotic people were doing bake sales for tank paint that wouldn't burn easily, and to buy silly string that would be used to detect trip wires. Welfare (food charity) was used on our bases. So, I wondered whether an Afghanistan could happen to me, around the age of enlistment.

Part of my family has originated from Eastern Europe, around the time of the Holodomor, but most other people fail to grasp the concept, in which food is used as a weapon.

I've never experienced the military, war or famine, but I was born in a contentious part of Europe.

Belarus was just another flavor of the month regime change op that didn't work out. Not that I know much about it or endorse their president, but there were for sure ulterior motives at work with that.

Right now the target has moved to Pakistan. Imran Khan is getting a little too cozy with Russia/China, so they have to try to get rid of him. Before that I believe the flavor of the month was Kazakhstan.

Or maybe the present target is Hungary, I can hardly even keep up anymore really.

The pattern is easily distinguishable. All the countries targeted are either friendly towards Russia/China or in the case of Belarus and Kazakhstan are on Russia's physical border.

Not that I endorse any abuses of power that have taken place in these countries. However, I still know a CIA regime change op when I see it. Which is the lesser evil? That is up to the individual to decide.

I know you don't understand history.  it's not reactionary, it's a global response to real tyranny.  Was Mao or Stalin not worth stopping? Was Hitler?  Putin is the same.

You'll argue American sins preclude us from making accurate morale judgments, but that's untrue.  Those mistakes, in conjunction with our freedom to publicly admit them and learn from them- hopefully to never repeat, set us apart- from those who are not allowed to acknowledge the ones that their states or governments have made. 

The leaders you admire would lock you up if you were their citizen talking about them the way you talk about the US.

So solid reports are coming in now and shit is looking really bad or the russians. It seems this whole invasion was a complete blunder and really was just over russians trying to maintain thier currupt power in Ukraine.
