They got what they wanted from their political allies who actually did control the situation, while directing popular frustration at mandates towards a political opponent who controls a level of government that has little to do with the matter.

Enlighten me, what's the federal government's role in those? My impression is that "vaccine passports" are proof of vaccination issued by the province and that most of the situations requiring them result from provincial mandates. Other than border crossing related matters.
