I don't know where omicron is killing those people, but it isn't here. I hear about lots and lots of people who are positive for covid dying of... Anything and everything but covid. For most of those people the medical system has done them a disservice by continuing to do anything other than palliative care for quite a while

The way testing and reporting and many many other policy related things need to change quickly or a lot of people will continue to needlessly suffer. Fortunately I do see them beginning to change now

I don't know about y'all but I for one I'm glad that covid is not going to be an issue anymore. The problems created by the originally-sensible policies crafted when it first came out far now exceed the problems created by the virus itself. I'm ready for a world where we don't need to talk about covid at all anymore, and we can focus on the enormous list of problems we already had.


Unfortunately the way that everyone has behaved makes me suspect that we are totally fucked when this mythical virus that is both extremely contagious and extremely lethal finally emerges. I mean we would probably be fucked anyway if you're talking about a disease with a 50%+ case fatality rate and an r0 rivaling that of omicron. But now it's unquestionable. It would be a reset button on human civilization.  Except everybody's fighting for control of whatever leftover technology there is and ownership of whatever people who still know how to use it.

Wouldn't know anything about the mainstream media but I work for the government and I can tell you for a fact that covid related policies are changing quickly right now in response to the fact that they're doing so much more damage than the virus itself recently. Not quickly enough, but that's just the nature of systems with a lot of agents making decisions that are very important

Ugh dude.  "Antivaxxers" have been saying this for so long. 

It's not about being right or wrong, I really dgaf at this point I just wanna be able to go back to traveling freely.

But please help me understand, exactly what data or changes would make you change your position or the government change their position so quick and abruptly?

Last month the narrative was the complete opposite, and I'm sure koods can still show us some bullshit graph that clearly indicates we need to hide under our beds and triple mask.
