Gymnopilus?

Habitat:
Woodchips

Gills:
Orange with rusty orange spores shedding all over

Stem:
See photos

Cap:
Orange/pink

Spore print color:
Haven’t taken one yet but spores are orange when falling out onto my hand.

Bruising:
Didn’t see

We know this now for sure? Luteofolius is present in CA and NY?

The ITS sequence of NY material was only 1 base different from CA sequences, and I don't think that base is significant. I need to look at a big Gymnopilus alignment to see what's going on with that one base exactly, and check the spores in Melzer's of several collections from both sides of the country - but at the moment I don't see any reason to split into separate species.
