Wow! Thanks for the great advice. I'll have my friend rip up the stumps and apply a little more casing, then wait for the next flush. I didn't know about spore deposits slowing successive flushes. Guess my friend better scrape off a little bit of the old casing layer before adding some new. By-the-way ralphster, you've got a great bod! Thanks again to you and McMan. Later, Toejam

I always take spore-prints on the first flush. But, I always leave the largest, most mature, mushrooms for sporulation and not the whole flush. I've never seen a problem with spores "hurting" successive flushes, but because I don't like spores getting all over everything. It's messy. Maybe if you were growing oysters or portobellas commerically, it would make sense, but with psilocybes in a small rubbermaid, I think contaminants are more of a concern. My reasoning for taking sporeprints on the first flush is that I've found I had many more contaminants on my spore-prints when they were taken from later flushes. But, as usual, YMMV and if you're growing inside one of McMan's Terminator machines there shouldn't be a problem with contaminants.
