leaf cutter ants would not have anything to do with mushrooms. Unless they are digging in it i wouldnt worry. They are probably just foraging(looking for food).

Ants, not much of a problem for mushies in the US. Now snails and slugs are a different story.

Spinkle powdered cinnamon around and on the patch. Most bugs will stay away from it.
If that doesn't work... Crush 2 hot peppers in a bowl with 1 tsp dish soap or shampoo. Add 3 C. water. strain and use in a spay bottle.
Good luck. Ants aren't realy that bad. They can carry in spores and other contams. that you don't want.
