I received word that in some time there will be photo material etc. once the wells are up.

The charity is VERY busy, lots of orders are coming, YAHOO NEWS reports they gave a million people access to safe well water already.

A MILLION! In such a primitive way :shockandawe:

As you probably know, the Shroomery moderators volunteer their free time to moderate the website while the admins get some compensation for the work they do for the site.

I was a moderator for 6 years or so before being taken aloft on April Fools Day :naughty:

So, I do some things, a few hours a month, I get some compensation, nice.

With some Shroomery earnings put aside in months previous this month I decided to do something Shroomy.

A very practical charity I worked with before has a store of stuff they need, that you can buy so they can deploy it in rural Africa.

One of their projects is that they created a set of medical kits, and that they set up rudimentary hospitals where villagers who have nothing can get most basic kinds of healthcare, entirely for free. Its like this:





And what they do, they power these hospitals by supplying them with the kits that have ran out.

Beautiful system isnt it?

Well, Africa being Africa, some of those kits run out faster than others, the malaria kits and the waterborne diseases kits.

What I did, I donated 2 malaria kits containing:

720 ACT antimalarial combination treatments
50 Malaria tests (usually its obvious)
clinical wipes



Now this alone will approximately save the lives of 120 children under the age of 5, and costs as little as 4 delivered fastfood meals, here where I live.
Mindblowing, thats 2 busses full of lil kids saved :yaysugar:


Then, I donated a Sanitation Kit for waterborne diseases containing:

10,000 water purification tablets (purify >13,000 gallons of water)
1500 broad spectrum intestinal parasite pills (Mebendazole)
Aspirin
Soap

Lets not get graphic but this will save a bunch of lives and save a lot of people of highly unpleasant illness. Many of these parasites gnaw through the bowel wall and.. Nuff said.


As a cherry on the cake I had 2 Jackfruit trees planted at either orphanages or community centers, each yielding up to hundreds of pounds of meat quality nutritious seeds each year, and its known that these trees are multiplied once planted to supply more food to more people, jackfruit trees can grow up to 100 foot high and 100 years old and are considered one of the main answers to the world hunger problem - they start yielding large fruits in the third year after planting:





As a cherry on the cake, I donated a lil durable solar powered LED light that'll work for years. This will be given to a poor family with a child sent to school so that the kid can make their homework and the family, in general, benefits from a light source in the home.






Nice huh?



Guys, I decoided to make some of my paid time volunteered time and paid the money forward to what most would agree is this very worthy cause.

We are literally talking over 200 people, mostly little kids, getting their lives saved, hundreds getting rid of nasty diseases and being fed for generations to come.

YOU did this! This was made possible with Shroomery money directed to a worthy destination.

We saved a couple hundred LIVES, Shroomerites, the majority of them little children, deadly ill, carried on their momma's back for miles and miles to a field hospital in the middle of nowhere.


The Shroomery made this possible, this is YOU GUYS just as much as I so derive a good feeling about that - we saved some lives today, its not just between the mushies and us, the Shroomery is what we make it, even in Shit Creek, Uganda.


Oh by the way, so far, Shroomerites have donated 4 village water wells for 4 destitute African villages and while the charity is bending over backwards to meet the demands in Covid time they told me yesterday they expect these wells being built very soon, with pictures to boot!


The Shroomery is as Shroomy as WE make it!

Thanks to your generosity we managed to realize 4 village water wells in rural Uganda.

Of those 4, 3 are already built, bearing our awesome logo of old.

People will not get sick and children will not die, because of you.
Daily hours of lugging dirty water has come to an end, all thanks to our generous mushroom tribe.

One more to come, but here are the first three wells in Uganda!:
