Tips for lowering humididity for casings?
    #2729553 -

I'm converting my cake terrarium setup (ultrasonic humidifier, 3 pop bottle) to house casings, and many people have told me many different things (some claim it works, others are doubtful). Anyways, does anybody have any tips to lowering humidity for pinning on casings (around 90% right?) because the humidity levels at 95% right now, and I was thinking of just misting the sides of the terrarium, maybe fanning a few times a day, misting them a few times a day, and have the humidifier run on a timer (maybe 15 minutes every 4 hours?). Has anybody had success at this, and if so, any pointers for a hopeless newbie at lowering humidity to an acceptable level? Thanks

With a ultrasonic humidifier there should be no need for misting. The best thing to do is just mess around with your timer until you find out what works best. Right now, I have a ultrasonic humidifer that runs 15min every 2hours then 15min every 1hour then back to 15min every 2hours. You will also have to adjust the output to your needs as well. Just experiment, really 95% isn't going to make a big difference. Good Luck!

Good advice, if anything, the extra 5% might give you fuzzy mycelium growth on your stems and such. Don't let it get too high though or you raise your risk for contams like cobweb and such and won't yield as good.
