I have heard that straw and compost work very well with the pan cyans. check out www.thehawkseye.com for more info on them

straw contaminates real easy with pans. The panaeolus mycelium is much sensative to prone to contaminating then cubensis mycelium.
You will have best results using pasturized dung or compost.

Never heard of growing them on wood, maybe you mean growing "psilocybe" cyanescens. There wood lovers, pans on teh other hand love shit. Ohhh, i love to eat shit

I just grew some pan cyan's and the mycelia does real well on dung/compost. Extremely fast colonizer, that needs a little more air exchange than cubes. Ritchie Hawk is absolutely on the money talkin about the sensitivity of this species to contaminants though. I didn't sterilize my casing and almost all of my trays got hit with the dreaded green mold.

Also, if you look back in the advanced mushroom cultivation forum you will find a thread entitled "copelandia cyanescens" that has a lot of good information. By the way, sorry for spelling your name wrong above Ryche.

Actaully Panaeolus cyanescens is abbreviated Pan. cyanescens and Psilocybe cyanescens is abbreviated Ps. cyanescens.
