help me with my friends outdoor grow

hi,
  my friend started growing a weed plant outside.  its about a month old now, still in a small potter.  hes planning on transplanting it soon. he was planning on transplanting it into the ground, but the soil around here is very acidic,  so heres the question, if he were to just transplant it into a larger planter and then leave it outside would this be fine.  hes worried about rain, and the soil getting too wet and not having anywhere to drain to.

poke holes in the bottom of your container for drainage, that's a no brainer :tongue:

or you could just throw some lime in the soil at your outdoor plot to bring the ph up, the plant will get a lot bigger in the ground.  of course it'll probably end up being a male if that's the only one you put out (murphy's law), so you better get a few more started eh :smirk:...

www.overgrow.com is probly a better place for help on that kinda stuff :wink:

thats what i figured (putting holes in the pot).

although its not flowring yet and i cant tell for sure the sex of the plant, the growth seems to be very symetrical leading me to beleive it could be a male.  :frown:  oh well, i can always make hash.

luckily i have 9 more seeds that i plan to germinate starting tomorrow.

you cant tell by teh growth except by seeing the preflowers. Dont post weed stuff here, go to overgrow.com this place is for shrooms.

if the growth is symetrical its about a 60-70% chance its a male.  its nothing definate, but its a good way to guess as to the gender before flowering, but of course only time will tell.

i didnt want to go to overgrow.com, because ive been on here for 2 years now and feel alot more comfortable here.  this site is not just for shrooms.  :mushroom2:

hrmm, where'd you hear that? 

by symmetrical do you mean new leaves are coming out directly opposite each other along the stem?

because they all start growth like that from seed, then both males and females will switch to alternate leaves(phyllotaxy) once they get going and are closer to flowering.  As was mentioned above, waiting for preflowers is the only way to really tell the sex before flowering, but it's good policy to leave them until you're completely sure (flowering).  just don't let the males drop any pollen near the girls :smile:.

Nope, if you give htem blue lights, moist soil, high N and low P you get a better chance of geting females. its been proven and ive experienced it myself. Thats about it. Still go to overgrow this isnt a good site for q's about growing.

that has little relevance to the topic (outdoor growing)and doesn't discount anything I've said, so I'm confused as to why you directed the reply to me :crazy:.  Even if it increases the proportion of females, you still have to wait for preflowers/flowering to tell which are which.

i wanst saying nope to you i was saying it to the symetry. I just always hit last post when i post. It does have to do with outdoor because you give them a shot of N around weeks 4-5 veg and make sure you water them.
