You can go to the Schultz webpage and read the whole story. It's no big deal, you'd have to work somewhere and use it all the time to be at risk. People using it to make up a few 1/2 pint jars every couple weeks need not worry!

I have seen several posts about problems getting vermiculite. due to
the asbestos scare. Sounding like Home Depot will not be carrying it
anymore. The one where I live does not have any, and at this point,
know if they will re-stock. We have a large garden center greenhouse
that has it, but it is kinda pricey. So, everyone out there that is using
vermiculite, it might be a good idea to stock up if you can still get it. And
don't breathe the dust!!!!

I bought mine at Ace Hardware. They said that it was a new formula and is not the same as what I was used to. I have 12 jars going with it right now and all are doing fine. This is the Shultz brand but they said it had changed.
