We encountered a problem. The reason reported was:
This post can no longer be edited because the maximum edit time has expired
This is not necessarily an error. If you feel this is an error then it could be something as simple as your browser not being set to accept cookies. If you feel this error is a problem with the server then please contact aphex@shroomery.org and let us know what exactly went wrong so it can be fixed as soon as possible. Otherwise, please use your back button to return to the previous page.

I fully comprehend your role in this scenario. Perhaps there is a "backdoor" to turn the editing on? (to answer your question with a question)

Yes, there most certainly is. However, with only linited knowledge of the new software and poorly trained agents, we have no idea how to turn it on???

The last time it was tried, we accidentally made the pre-post typing box font microscopic.

Editing is now allowed up to 24 hours after the post is made. What is the popular opinion on what this value should be?

Most of my edits are just things I got wrong adn i realize them when I go back tot he thread after posting. So maybe 24hrs is appropriate, idk.
This part here is me editing the post for fun. Just noticed you can choose not to mark your post as edited, I don't like that I'm paranoid ;)> How can people have a decent flameroast when they can sneakily go back and change their posts, lol. I just like to know when someone changes what they said and i think most people do too. And it is rarely held againsat them without reason.

Well, I suppose having any limit has a purpose in not allowing retractions if an author decides he didn't like his original work - then he's bound to it and can't change what he said. But I really don't think it makes a hill of beans whether there's a limit or not. 24 hours is fine with me.
