Can i get an ID on this?
    #2628467 -

i found this while walking around my yard. they were found in a garden with wood chips. i live in south west ohio.

any help would rock.

EDIT: I just checked my spore print, it was blackish-brown in color.

the stem is hollow too.

i found QUITE a large patch of very young ones. i think i'll wait till the end of the week. by then more characteristics will show up. i'm hoping that they turn out to be sub-alts. becaues a patch of those right outside my door would make me happy.

Could you show us a photo of a spore print?

Also, are any parts of the mushroom slimy or sticky? Does it have a distinctive odor?

Happy mushrooming!

here is a view of the cap. it looks different than the other type i showed you guys. but the gills are now a brownish color, still yielding the same spore print. the cap, still smooth and gooey.

My first thought is that they look like a Hypholoma. They are close enough in appearance to Hypholoma fasciculare to recommend that they should not be eaten. H. fasciculare is a notorious poisonous mushroom.

As angryshroom said, that's one of the tougher ones to ID. Without seeing it close up personally and using a microscope we'll probably never know what it is.

Interesting find and good photos.

Happy mushroming!
