Can anyone ID these???
    #4316825 - 06/20/05 01:42 PM (13 years, 4 days ago)

Found in a piece of wood. Caps where about one inch in diameter, thin stems no longer then 1,5 inch. Pale yellow color, spores where dark, had no smell and didn't bruise atfer touching. Was found in southern Brazil.

Thanks a lot

Umm...I think they're sulfur tufts...poisonous

--------------------
Dreaming of that face again.
It's bright and blue and shimmering.
Grinning wide
And comforting me with its three warm and wild eyes.

On my back and tumbling
Down that hole and back again
Rising up
And wiping the webs and the dew from my withered eye.

whiteknight looks to me to be right. Those look a lot like Hypholoma fasciculare, the Sulfur Tuft, a nasty poisonous mushroom that has caused fatalities in Europe. There are some closely related species that are similar that should also be treated as poisonous.

Happy mushrooming!

Well, let's see how I did on this:

Quote:

II. Accurate mushroom descriptions

It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.

A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.

Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:

Posted 4 pictures from different angles

Quote:

a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)

Said that

Quote:

b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)

Didn't describe in words but attached 2 macro shots of the gills

Quote:

c. Measurements of cap and stem.

Did that

Quote:

d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)

Talked about the color, the Length, the thickness

Quote:

e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)

Talked about color, size and the format can be seen clearly in the pictures

Quote:

f. Spore print color (very important!)

Talked about that (even thou I didn't take a print, I could see the spores deposited all around.

Quote:

g. Color that the mushroom bruises

Talked about that

Quote:

h. Scent of mushroom

Talked about that also

Quote:

And provide us with a full description. That will help us be sure on IDs.

Well, I think I was pretty close to full filling all the requirements that are mentioned on the link you posted, Gumby.
Anyway, thanks for informing me about the rules and guidelines.

Junka
