I'll be curious to see how they turn out. Were they clumping and sticky or did they shake well?

First bags I tried with just millet clumped at bottom, but they colonized well, and when the time came to shake, I massaged them and broke it up, no issues. I've since tried adding some gypsum to bags, but those haven't even been nocced yet.

Interesting, I think i still prefer my wbs prep. I actually timed myself on both my methods and it turns out i spend right about 1/2 hour HANDS ON TIME going from forty pound wbs bag to having it all loaded in bags and cooking.

Five days in from prep and innoc. I like the results so far. Looking forward to seeing how it shakes at 30%. There’s leap off showing all over the master now from the wedge drop and shake so probably just a few more days.

Day 10 Edit:

Pre and post shake pics. It felt good. I probably could have shaken on day eight or day nine, but I waited. There is one stubborn clump of seed in the mix but that seems to be colonizing fine.

Have been using boiling water and allowing them to sit for an hour, then giving them a shake before cooking: really seems to have reduced cracking jars... This is amazing and inspiring work BS... Been wondering about quarts and bags myself... The pints do clump but colonize just fine... Really not as big an issue for the culture as it is the cultist... It is more difficult to ensure cleanliness, but when you GANGSTA!?

Just got a proper PC and this was my first experience with grains. Finished pints shook easily out of the PC with no burst grains. Sitting on 10 lbs of rye berries that im apprehensive to attempt. Finch seed ran beautifully. Cant wait to dump pasty plates into them. I've also adapted my agar to your SAGARI ratios. Used 4g agar 6g LME to 500ml. Any reason I cant just go ahead and spawn these 6 PPMs to straight coir?

Absolutely not... Do as you wish... My process is tailored to the SOS, one culture from start to finish per substrate, and I'm running 3gal subs requiring 4qts spawn each... The PPM>BAG is what I've found to work best for my system, and space restrictions, but this is a viable method of producing spawn good for immediate use (immediately upon full colonization of course: nothing magic going on lol)

I wanna take an extra second to thank you guys taking risks to try my teks and see how they work for others... One of my favorite things about cult is sharing: seeing how others do their thing... Seeing people adopt my personal procedures (again, nothing revolutionary here: just how I do things) is really neat... THANKS AGAIN< AND FOR SHARING! Which is one of the more critical points;and one I fall short of myself... We've all got work to do I suppose!

I'm bouta go run some prepless millet. It's definitely the mist convenient and accurate way to go IMO. Boiling millet is just a bit hit and miss for me.

I've been doing the PPM's for a few months now... I'm REALLY considering the scale up with oats to bags... woof though... BS, Did you fold the bags with extra space for swelling? I'd imagined a need to

Your teks are exactly what a noob like me needs. Appears to be the most direct route from A to B to C with minimal vectors and forgiving on technique. Im having typical noob problems and questions but im learning and taking advice gratefully. More information on my plans and situations can be found in the Tribe post in "getting started". Yall Tribe folk are awesome.

I appreciate it... I have a direct Q&A thread in my siggy if you've any specific questions or concerns... In the threads is fine too... I'm typically rather active... Took a break, and still not sure where I'm at with it... would like to think I'll be integrating more and more time online into my day: as part of my schedule... Like part of a job!

I like to use a 6qt pressure cooker for batches of 4 when I'm expanding one culture quite far(namely gourmets in my case), and batches of up to 20 in the Presto 23qt pressure cooker when Im expanding multiple cultures to only test subs

How you get 20 pints in there? Seriously, teach me! I can't get more than 18 in mine

8 on the outside, 2 in the middle: 2 levels... place the bottom level so one sits directly under the coverlock latch, and the top layer will sit out of the way

No way mine can hold 20. I tried  without lids even.

Ohhh, you use regular mouth pints? Those are wife mouth pints. If they were qt then it's only 10 max with the top 3 on their side.

Finished no bs wbs ppm before I tried the 100% shake. :derfase:

I ran another batch last night and made sure to shake while still hot from the cycle. I dropped wedges this morning and the seed had no clumps when I shook it again. :awesomenod:
